Unforunately Great Tew was not Tew be today. Lorry started belching out smoke within minutes of leaving yard (down a massively steep hill). Turned round at first opportunity (at bottom of aforementioned hill) and crawled back towards yard. Engine cut out half way up hill in narrow wooded section, blocking the road and with no room to get side ramp down to get horse off... which was great. Eventually managed to get it started and drive back into the yard. Unloaded horse, took plaits out, phoned the organisers and now going to pub for lunch to drown sorrows.

Very disappointed. How did everyone else get on today?

Worst thing is that it was a friend's lorry that I borrowed because mine failed it plating. Ah well, am just hoping that the ground doesn't turn to rock for my next events now (and that there's nothing majorly wrong with the lorry).
