Hi everyone,
I have not posted any updates on Tex since my last as there has really been no significant change.
His bandages are off and the wound is really drying out! alot of dead tissue but appears to be infection free and healing as best as can be expected.
We have a tremendous amount of flies on the attack but are combating this with high strength fly spray several times a day around the wound.
anyhow....my main concern is that he is losing condition.
he has AMPLE food avail and the only thing I can attribute it to is the fact that he detests being in the corral by himself and paces the fence alot!
He is right next to all of the others and I have even brought them all out of summer pasture to be on hay and be close to him for support!
Not sure what I can do but put him back in the corral with his two buddies Chester and Charlie.( NOT the big pasture but the small winter corral of about 3/4 of an acre)
I have not wanted to do this as they all tend to play rowdy (especially he and the Shetland Charlie) and I am afraid of too much strain on him and even possible re injury or tear out!
what would you do?
Do you think the benefits of less stess having contact with the buddies but possibly playing too hard would be a greater gain than worry of too much pacing and stress making him lose condition and being slightly stressed ?
What else would you attribute the weight loss to?
My instincts tell me that having his buddies right next to him but not IN with him are good enough but I am just curious
what you all think and what you would do
