Thank God for Fugly Horse of the Day! (great P word rant)

I don't know how many of you read FHotD but tonights is great. I thought I'd mention it after the last few nights highly entertaining paralli rants. Cathy speaks the most sense I've heard in a long time, although i have dissagreed with her once or twice I have so much respect for her and her convictions and for what shes trying to do over in the states. I hope someone gets to that appalosa and stands up to it before it becomes another headshy confused wreck.

Another point while we're here, the previous two posts on FHOTD, is this an american thing? I mean i've seen some pretty poorly conformed horses and ponies over here but nothing so bad that it could not be used for anything like some of the horses that appear on there. Plus its rare to see anything with such bad conformation remain a stallion over here. The first stallion on the page acctually reminds me of a line drawing I saw in a conformation book that had the line under it "just for fun see how many faults you can find in this imaginary horse"

I know I can always count on Fugly to cheer up my day and have had it on favourites for such a long time. I do like common sense and those who call a spade a spade and I often find myself laughing out loud at the bluntness of it all and the stupidity of some people.

If you find Fugly a good read you might also enjoy Bazzy, not the same content but still very well written and very entertaining stuff.

She called the Parellis 'snake oil salesmen'.
I think I love her.

I love the phrase Appytude, we have an Appy mare now and had another one for over 20 years, ego the size of the Universe! Back down and they will walk all over you, stand up to them and they are wonderful. What my girls would have made of a carrot stick I cannot begin tp think! They are bullies if you let them be, that is why the current appy(15:3 araby type) got booted by the 16:3 ID, she tried three times to move the big girl from the gate by pushing her, only gave up when she was double barrelled. If they will take on some thing that size then you have to stand your ground and mean business.

FHoTD is fabulous!

It's guarenteed to make anyone halfway intelligent think twice.
Sadly it won't be able to help the truly ignorant, but hopefully goes a long way towards re-educating those that can be.

I love the word hideozygous for the fugly but hey its coloured horses. She does make me laugh, but feel sad too, that every day she can find some other idiot like the parelli one today, or another sad example of someone breeding shite for no good reason

"All you have to do, Kim, is make this horse believe that he is going to die if he ever bites you again. You can do it and it has nothing to do with seven games, yielding his hindquarters or backing up. "

ROTFLMAO at this, I'd forgotten how funny and wise this lady is.

Alas, wretched horses and bad riding are not "an American thing". America is, however, a HUGE place with a tradition of letting people do their own thing (those of you who decry the Nanny State

) which probably lends more scope for, um, self expression.

It's great to see how popular this blog has become and how much it makes people think. The thing that always makes me laugh a bit, though, is how many people agree with her until she hits a little too close to their own beliefs/delusions . . .then the knives come out!

The internet at some of its best, if you ask me.

I love reading this post and so agree with her reaction to a biter - exactly what I would do and if it did it a second time, then my fish slice anti biter device would be making an appearance - only had one horse that needed a second visit from that - great noise, good sting and rarely needed to be used a second time.

Maybe I am lucky but none of my horses have ever nipped more than the once.

I'm another fuglyhorse junkie - love the way she gets her important, serious points across with so much wit and humour! Her blog would not be anywhere near so popular if she just 'ranted'. Clever lady!

love the site and as an owner of a horse that tests the limits with his teeth agree whole heartedly with her advice!
