Bit of a pointless post really.

But I went up the yard today in bit of a foul mood, but was feeling brave enough to hack out in the ridiculous wind we have today. My 14yo ex racer is a spooky boy bless him and a blade of grass longer than the rest would make him die inside, so was feeling a bit of a fool for thinking it was a good idea to hack out today but still went for it.
He was being such a good lad, going through puddles and everything  not like him at all! Birds flying out of bushes, a plastic bag flying around and then attacking his face - no reaction at all. So I was in a good mood already, then we got to a stubble field. I had no intention of going for a gallop so just kicked him into canter but he was clearly rather excited and expected a flat out gallop, now my boy is a machine. He is difficult to hold at the best of times so I was either being very brave, or very stupid when I just let him go. He absolutely FLEW across the field, and was listening to everything I asked, just a little "woaaah" and he came back to me.
I am just in a fabulous mood after one of the best hacks me and my lad have ever had.
Isn't it great how horses have the ability to put you in the BEST mood?
It's days like this that I am so grateful to have a horsey! :)

Have anyone else got stories like this? I'd love to hear them!

Sounds fantastic xx

They should have horse therapy on the nhs, my horses have cheered me up so many times I can't count but they are or have been the best therapy in the world, I mean how can you not smile when you have this to cuddle.....

HAHA lucky you - he sounds great. My pony was like a thing possessed this morning - EVERYTHING was out to eat him :o However, despite bouncing all the way in walk, he was angelic in canter, never got strong, and really gave me a feeling for what I want from him in the school (he's young and canter's stil pretty rubbish - he gave me some lovely balanced, uphill canters today, properly between the hand and leg - not stretched out and ropey like he does in the school!) and we managed to get back in one piece - so I'm feeling pretty pleased with my lad too - albeit for different reasons.

This is why we have horses - what would our lives be like without them? :D

Not quite like yours, but mine's in a grouchy mood today because he's got a rug on (I draw the line when it starts hailing hard enough to set the car alarm off), yet when I went down and filled up his haynet in the field shelter for him, he gave my hand a little bump with his nose before he tucked in, which is his way of saying thank you and not something he does that often.

Awww :) I love it when they have soppy moments in the field - I was taking my cob's rug off and Darach kept nosing me while I was seeing to J, the cob. I stopped to give him a scratch and he kept offering to groom me back - though I draw the line at having a highland's teeth inserted into my back :D

The babies made me literally laugh out loud this morning, and I definately needed a laugh. We have a few yearlings/2 yr old in a little group, and two of them were chasing each others tails, just like dogs would. Round and round, for quite a while, I was surprised neither of them fell over! :)
