Bit of a pointless post really.
But I went up the yard today in bit of a foul mood, but was feeling brave enough to hack out in the ridiculous wind we have today. My 14yo ex racer is a spooky boy bless him and a blade of grass longer than the rest would make him die inside, so was feeling a bit of a fool for thinking it was a good idea to hack out today but still went for it.
He was being such a good lad, going through puddles and everything
not like him at all! Birds flying out of bushes, a plastic bag flying around and then attacking his face - no reaction at all. So I was in a good mood already, then we got to a stubble field. I had no intention of going for a gallop so just kicked him into canter but he was clearly rather excited and expected a flat out gallop, now my boy is a machine. He is difficult to hold at the best of times so I was either being very brave, or very stupid when I just let him go. He absolutely FLEW across the field, and was listening to everything I asked, just a little "woaaah" and he came back to me.
I am just in a fabulous mood after one of the best hacks me and my lad have ever had.
Isn't it great how horses have the ability to put you in the BEST mood?
It's days like this that I am so grateful to have a horsey!
Have anyone else got stories like this? I'd love to hear them!
