I fell off today and I reckon if I hadn't been wearing a hat, I'd be laid up in hospital now.
As Kelly is out of action, I've been able to ride her owners other horse who's a lovely 16.2hh mare, a pleasure to school and hack, REALLY laid back and very easy to ride (so it just shows...!!)

She's just learning to jump so after schooling her today, G popped a little cross pole up (a few inches maybe from the floor) and I trotted the mare over it, fine, about 4 times not a problem. Put her into canter and let her canter over it - she took it as though it was a 4ft fence, took off a stride early, so I got left behind and as she landed, I just lost my balance and got catapulted forwards, managed to dislodge my stirrups, fell, landed on my side and somehow forward rolled onto my head, yanking my neck as I went.

The horse was REALLY good, moved out of the way really quick and stood there, bless her, shaking!! I got back on after 10 minutes (I really winded myself, thought I was going to be sick) and jumped again and she panicked but after she calmed down and jumped nicely, I called it a day.
I'm going to have one major headache......

Please, please, please....wear a hat. It possibly saved me major injury today.

Yeah I am fine, just a bit sore!...I got back on and jumped again, was terrified of the horse not jumping again because she was traumatised (she is that kind of horse, becomes an absolute mess if she drops her rider!!)
I've never fallen off her in all the time they've had her (about 5 years now) and I can appreciate its a LONG way to the floor!! ;)

ETA on the plus side, we know she can jump!!!!!
