Not only for the fab coverage of the Euros but also that Team GB's efforts, both team and individual were on the 10pm news

The coverage was fab shame I was out all weekend so only able to watch the highlights.
Great to hear it was covered on the news, some positive eventing news on mainstream tv

Glad to see the great achievement of our riders was acknowledged!!

Also think it would be worth them knowing how much we appreicated the coverage over the weekend. Everyone was so quick to complain about the lack of Burghley coverage, if they get thanks for the Euros they might give Burghley better coverage next year-definately worth a try!

From my point of view it would be "well tried, but do better next time BBC"!!!

On Saturday I had the red button set up and watched for most of the morning, recording it on video. Left the house about 1.30 and at 2 the coverage 'blipped' back to the 'pick a sport' screen, and I believe changed stream from stream 2 to stream 3 (to accomodate F1) later in the afternoon. Were we warned in advance to expect this - NO!!! so my live viewing ended at 2 (before all the 3rd and 4th team riders).

No comment about the SJ coverage today, except that the 9-11am slot this morning didn't appear on the red button. Whether this was due to the BBC, or whether there weren't enough competors remaining in the competition to need this early morning slot I don't know, and we had to leave the house before the next scheduled red button coverage at 1pm.

The highlights programme was good though

I can't comment on Saturday's freeview showing , as I felt unwell & by the time I realised it was on , saw 2 riders & it finished !

Today , I managed to remember the freeview coverage , but picture kept disappearing

I did see the awards ceremony on freeview , then went to BBC2 to watch the cross country & showjumping phases , knowing who'd won by then

All a bit messy & back to front for me , but enjoyed it !

It might be worth remembering that the BBC may not have had all their over tv crew out there and thus possibly might have been using the french coverage as well and mixing the two together.

Freeview's always a dodgy one, especially to record as it was never designed to be recorded perhaps they have no say in how its streamed. Obviously changing channels is annoying but that may well have tied with a break in french coverage or something else that no-one knows about?

The BBC are damned if they do and damned if they don't sometimes. The reason there was no coverage at 9am this morning is because NO ONE jumped at 9am this morning! There were too few a number going forward to the show jumping so the morning session was effectively cancelled.

I thought the coverage was really good and I really appreciated being able to watch all the XC and most of the showjumping, especially after the lack of Burghley coverage. I really enjoyed the highlights programme too, felt they made a real effort with interviews etc, on what must've been a busy sporting weekend for them with the Grand Prix and the cycling that needed coverage too. Well done BBC, keep up the good work!!

I've given my feedback, I was dead impressed and for once I thought that the interviews with Team GB were genuine and not false. Watching WFP when Tina's test score came through was really sweet.

I'm so pleased the Beeb got it right this time. Fab.

I'm glad that the BBC covered the event and the highlights show was very good. However, I'm not sure that all the camerwork was their own as it was shoddy by the BBC's usually exemplar standards.

Footage of the Burghly XC/SJ was innovative and clear, focusing on the horse, yet the SJ coverage of the Europeans was constantly cut to the crowd, so often so that occasionally we missed part of horse's jump. Maybe aroudn turns this is acceptable but cutting away during the related distances and right before the final jump just makes no sense?!

I hate to complain because I'm delighted that the BBC did send reporters out there to cover this important event and gave the riders the credit they deserved with the news mentions. However, it's worth noting that Sky are covering the entire HOYS, in HD. Come on BBC, at least give us red button coverage of HOYS so freeview users can enjoy it without paying for Sky! [Maybe if we keep praising and constructively criticising the coverage we get they will reward us with more Equestrianism on TV- I really do hope so].

From what I have seen it has all been very good coverage some of the best i have seen recently!

Does anyone know if they are going to be re-showing it anywhere?i have only caught bits of the Euro action and would really like to watch the whole thing?

I have written to show my support for the coverage. I enjoyed not having to faff with the red button to watch the show jumping and it was lovely to see Piggy and Tina get their medals.

Fantastic coverage- Tina's just been on BBC South Today again.....really good for horse sport and brilliant for eventing...DO keep it up Auntie (Beeb) !

There was no mention of the fact that it was going to change stream though, if there was I would have known I had to stay in and watch it. Also I was watching it off Sky (not off freeview) but shouldn't make any difference I would have thought.

I did guess that there reason there was no SJ coverage at 9 was that there weren't enough riders to need the extra early time slot. I wasn't complaining about that (though again some information to that effect might have been helpful).

At least the hightlights programme was good, and showed some of the Irish, German and French riders mishaps.

I too have left a positive comment with bbc-I thought the coverage was excellent and we do have to remember that although we all love eventing it is a minority sport!

Oh wishful thinking, I thought from the thread title it would be "the BBC has retired Mike Tucker from equestrian commentary"!

Seriuously though the BBC coverage from once was good. Comment will be submitted to beeb and lets hope they give WEG similar coverage.

The action coverage was definitely French TV. FEITV had to use it too and their commentators apologised for what the French crew chose not to show.

I agree absolutely with giving the BBC all the feedback you can whether positive or negative. Just show that lots of people care!

BBC cannot put HOYS on red button without paying Sky so I don't think there's any chance of that happening more's the pity. I write as one who was lucky enough to grow up when the BBC televised the show at peak time every night. Those were the days!
