I put a post on last week about having problems with Bears brakes, and alot of you suggested a Waterford. I borrowed a loose ring Waterford off a friend today and he went lovely in it!!

As soon as I put it on him he was trying to grab it but he couldn't, his face was a picture, but he didn't fuss at all. On the lane that leads up to the yard he was going to try and have a go at racing home but I gave him a little half halt and he did a perfect canter!! He's mouthing lovely in it too.
I'll try him in it for a few times to see if it will work long term and then I'll invest in one.
So thank you guys!!!

ooh thanks for that, although i have just splashed out on a new saddle and im a poor student but it will definately be worth having a look. I didnt read your post about bear's brakes but a horse i used to loan used to grab the bit in her mouth so she had an appleroller orsomething like that. It is basically covered in about 8 rollers, 5 on each side. It looked a bit harsh to me but if it does the trick! do you do any shows? im thinking of doing gwinear show this year but im not sure yet...need a bit more practice!

Bears usually good, I took his martingale off months ago as I'd rather not have it on cos you cant wear one in the showring so I cant see the point, and its only been the last couple weeks he's been strong but its quite scary when you know you have no control! He's only been in a french link snaffle and I didn't want a harsh bit as he's only a 4 year old..

Im in gwennap RC near St Day, they are a nice little club to be with. I took my Welsh A to Gwinear Show last year. It was a bit too scary for me!! Lots of really competitive people!!
The Masta check tech MW's will be about £30!!! Im gonna treat Bear to a new rug! And Im gonna treat me to a new coat too, cos loads of clothes will be in it too.

Ha ha that reminds me of a horse I used to share years ago who leaned horribly owner bought a Waterford and first time I rode him in it he nearly fell over!! Funny to watch but not so when riding him!! He got used to it and went really well in it.

Seems like they are coming back into fashion. I got one for my cob some time ago, a Waterford Pelham and it's great. I don't need it's action all the time but good to know it's there for when I do need it!

I might join penponds and barriper riding club, they have an easter day ride on 23rd march so i might give that a go.
I really wanted to do the clear round jumping at gwinear show but its 4 under 16's only. im not sure i want to embarass myself doing the show jumping so i might give it a miss!
I dont use rugs that much and my last horse came with about 10 rugs so i think i will b ok 4 rugs. Might get some new jods tho.
Is there bad management or something at the horsebox coz quite a few staff have left i think?

He had me in stitches when I put his bridle on, usually he starts crunching on the bit but he didn't he was putting his head down and trying to grab it!!
The old boy that owns the fields said he's just sold about 100 bits at a sale in Devon that he's had in a draw for years and he had a Waterford in amongst them, I think they are quite popular now, I don't know if I could show in it, but I've got my Pelham if not..

I did think about getting it in a gag, as you can use the snaffle ring but then if I need a bit of extra backup its there!

Gwennap Pit have showing in the morning and SJ in the afternoons and they have Dressage and SJ evenings on Tuesdays in Summer nd they have got a XC course too, Im such a wimp with SJ but I do clear rounds up there!
2 of the Full time girls left and went to Gwinear Farmers as you only do every other Saturday morning down there but at the horsebox its all day every Saturday, I loved working there cos you just chat to customers and have a catch up!!
If you want to join Gwennap RC you have got until the end of March to become a member.

I would but its too far and i dont have a box so i would have to ride there. I ride past the barripper one most rides. Iv never really done anything like that Iv had horses 4 the past 5 years since i was 15 but i have just been hacking out and getting confident really. my dad is really into natural horsemanship too so its a bit against his veiws to do shows and stuff but never mind! if u have a box and u fancy coming over 4 a ride along gwithian beach one time your more than welcome!

Thank you!
I haven't got a box but the field owner has told me if I want taking to shows/hunts etc.. he'll take me so I could ask him nicely to bring me down 1 day!!
Im taking Bear out hunting in 2 weeks time and then again on the 1st of April as that will be the last 1, We've only been once and that was Boxing Day and we both loved it!

I would quite like to do some hunting, i know that it goes from the pub in angarrack sometimes which is really close to me. if u fancy going to the beach sometime PM me and i will give u my mobile number
