Just wanted to say thank you to everybody who replied to my post regarding which bit for my cob. Over the last few days have tried him in one of the myler bits (can't remember which one) specifically to allow more tongue room and he has been going really well in it and seems much more comfortable. My daughter jumped him in it today and he even had brakes!

That's really great news!

I can't imagine my cob in any other bit now. Heaven knows what I'll do if we ever decide to go showing in a double.

Pretty sure Myler do doubles! lol You can order any combo of mouthpiece and side from the states (I won the myler book "whole bit better" a few years ago!

Which bit do you use for dressage. Not sure if the one I have got is dressage legal. Have planned our first dressage outing for the middle of September. Thanks again.

I use the Myler comfort snaffle with the wide barrel for everything! In fact it's his only bit. I have the loose ring but I think any side piece is legal as long as it doesn't have 'hooks'.

Someone wiser than I will confirm or otherwise but I think they have to be made of a single metal to be dressage legal.

Good luck for your first outing!
