Thanks to you all for your help and support over the last week.

I've looked at DIY options and although I don't mind doing the work, it realisitically won't work time wise. I either quit my band or my horse. I think I'd be kicking myself if they made it big without me.....I'll just keep track of where he goes and then offer a stupid amount of money and buy him back!

Will have something written down to say that I get first refusal if his new owners want to sell him....I know it's not castiron but will give me a little comfort.

So the search is on for a good home.....go on C you know you want to!!!

Thinking that £950 without tack is a fair price for a horse that's going well, is gorgeous and has potential. Even if he only can only see out of one eye!

I think you are making the wisest decision honey. After what you have been through in the last months it is time for some you time and if you quit the band I would personally shoot you! There will always be time for horses, if you ever want to come up here and ride you are more than welcome. There is just no point in getting yourself in a mucking fuddle with everything, time-wise, financially, emotionally, etc.

I pray for a quick sale to a fantastic home xxxxxxxxxxx

You know you are doing the right thing, and the trick is to take your time and find the right home. Someone somewhere will love your horse as much as you do; it just might take a while to find them. Or for them to find him. The horsey world is reasonably small, word will get around. Put the word out locally as well as advertising him. He is a special horse and someone will see that.

also think you are making the right decision - but with the proviso that you can buy him back later if circumstances change

one thing about saafff london though - is despite it being expensive there are lots of horses around here and I'm sure that whilst it won't be the same you won't be out of the saddle for long - lots of people want good riders to help them with their horses.

Yeah I've had a few offers already - would be nice to ride twice a week atleast - especially during the summer!

riding in the sunshine and no bills - not a bad solution ;-)

maybe you could persuade one of your contacts that they should sell their particular 'problem' horse and buy your boy instead !!!
 
haa haa!

I think I spend too much time putting down my riding etc - I may not be grand prix standard but on my own I've got ty working in an outline and cantering on the right leg everytime and in a circle. May not seem a lot but I think I should take that away from the situation and feel a little proud!

Also couldn't pick out his feet when I got him (now offers them up) and was just a general fidget - couldn't get near him with spray etc.....

Even though I lost alot of confidence last year, I've built it back up so hopefully we can part on good terms......
 
be a good idea to get a few different people to handle him other than you in the next few weeks so that he gets used to behaving for other people than you.
That way he won't feel so strange in a new home with a new human

Something I do with the babies as they are always handled all the time by me and then don't always behave if someone else leads them or whatever initially.
 
Good luck, I know it has been a really hard decision but at least you have made it now and can start to take steps forward
