Being nominated for CR most improved horse and rider was a big surprise and made me think how far Blacky has taken me this year!
I started riding about 3 years ago, but i have never had a proper lesson i was just taught by doing, although we only hack with a bit of jumping.
i started riding on Connie who was great but i just sort of got left to learn it on my own, and she was pretty fast so i never liked to canter much.
Then i rode sil the mule for a bit before starting to ride Blacky a lot more at last summer.
Since then she's been just fantastic and i just want to tell everyone how much i love her!
Since i started riding her she's taught me how to canter properly and she has a dream canter!
This year Blacky taught me to jump and it was great! They are tiny jumps to most of you but it felt great to do them and Blacky just felt totally safe all the time!
My confidence has soared this year as i've been riding her 99% of the time and we've bonded loads.
We (i say we, it was my idea
) jumped logs out hacking which neither of us had done before! She was relctant at first but now loves it!
We've had some fantastic hacks - just me and her, and i know our hacks are the best because she plays up and won't canter for a lot of people
I'm not being big-headed or anything but other people have said she behaves perfectly and responds much better to me than some other people
So thankyou Blacky for a great year!
I hope the next 8/9 months before i *gulp* leave
are just as great and we have as much fun!
