Don't you just hate them heart stopping moments :(. When I got to the stables today my 3 were all layed down chilling. My haffy & cob got up when they saw me, but my other horse didn't. So I continued to put my welly's on while watching him & he still hadn't moved, so as you do started to worry & there I was rustling a bag, called him & still nothing not even a flicker of his tail moved. Now panic really set in, I made a point of opening & banging the gate on my way in, but still nothing. So there I am walking very fast with my phone out ready to make a dreaded call, to approach him to find his eyes shut, his lips flickering & him snoring .

He then decided to wake up & look at me in disgrace for waking him up . Don't you just love having horses :p

This is them when I arrived he is the bay at back, my haffy is abit blurry as he had just got up.

My YO was having some building work done when one of the builders came running inot the barn

'Is that big black horse yours?' he asked

I replied yes and he went on ' I don't like to panic you but I think he is dead!! He has been flat out for half an hour that I have been watching!'

Panicked run across field to snoring Sec D.

Don't they just love to do it to you? Glad yours was ok too.

Pesky humans when having a lovely snooze in the sun! Bet he was dreaming of fields full of carrots! Had a couple of heart stopping moments like that too! Murphy is lovely!

Hate it when they do that! Once went to feed ours early as parents were away and I had to feed and check before work. The two biggun's were up grazing, old shetland was flat out with a crow walking about on him. Wasn't even snoring as usual. Honestly thought he'd died and had his eye pecked out. Raced across the field wondering how I ws going to get hold of parents and what I'd say when he sat up, farted and then got up. Little swine. :)

Its the heartstopping dreaded phonecall from a fellow livery or yard owner that i find the worst!! I got one the other day and i almost had an aneurysm before i answered the phone to 'do you mind if i borrow half a bale of straw until tomorrow please?!'

I do this :o I found my old pony snoring and cantering in his sleep one day and I thought he was fitting because I didn't know horses could snore :o

Toast, head girl at our place doesn't say hello if she phones. She opens all calls with "don't panic......" Because people see her number and assume the worst!

My YO does that too!

Have had a similar run down the field with my TB, it's not funny!!!

Mine did this to me the other day, he didn't come when I called and all the other horses were the bar him. Greedy horse was in the lee of the hill stuffing his face

Love the Shetland + crow story :D

My youngster regularly does this to me, usually in her stable, where she lays flat out and doesn't move a muscle, with her eye wide open! The amount of times I've gone in there or yard staff have just to check she's breathing is crazy. She must hate all the interruptions ;) trouble is it's the time you don't interrupt that they aren't ok so I'll just keep on waking her up! :o
