I think my new gorgeous horse is a really beautiful example of an old fashioned warmblood. Right so I’m going to rave about him now, he is so straightforward but keen and quick off the leg, so affectionate, stands without being held, canter is like riding a sofa. He bends beautifully and his transitions make me look like a much better rider than I am ? training then Nat Am, BN, Disco...Foxhunter?! And 3 day eventing is the ultimate goal. So weird I had looked at so many adverts and tried 3 horses but after getting on him, warm up and flatwork then popping him over 1.10 it was like floating, he lands so carefully. Only bad thing is if it ever goes wrong I’ll know it’s totally 100% my fault!!!! Tell me about your ‘he/she is the one’ moment, how many had you seen beforehand and what was it about them?? Attach photos! Amy x

Someone else bought my pony, I saw them hack past the end of our driveway, fell in love, he was so handsome and thought darn should have dragged mum to look at that (this was in the age of advertising in freeads so no photos, I was grown up but intention at the time to have 2 'family horses' between the 3 of us)
I thought she'd keep him 6 months and he'd be too spoilt by then.
2ish months later she decided he was dangerous on the road (he spooks on lanes, he is a total rock down the A38/over motorway bridges/the fast virgin train etc) and he was stopping when she tried to jump him (hubby said if wasn't winning 2'6 unaffiliated jumping she couldn't keep a horse).
In the time she had kind of stopped riding him he had ballooned in weight, our vet vetted him and I promised he was on a diet asap and vet said he's not that unfit so crack on.
He was the first of 7 ponies she bought that spring/summer.

Through a mutual contact we got in touch with his previous owners, mostly as we needed to know more about him/how he was ridden etc. Teen girl, first pony, they'd had him 4 years and were quite worried about what had happened as the last they heard it was all going swimmingly then they got a text to say he was dangerous and for sale
We asked them to visit, and for them to ride as we had sort of missed the how they are currently ridden bit from previous owners, she rode beautifully so we knew we needed to step up a bit.
We've had him 15 years since, he's now 27, he's mostly been epic.

With regards to how many we had seen before, we spent the previous summer looking for an older dark coloured gelding (which he was) and gave up and bought a 5yo palomino mare. Had kind of given up waiting for 'the one' feeling. We very nearly bought a grey connie earlier the year we got him but the current owners wanted her to go somewhere else instead- I'm so pleased they did.

Fab story!! ?

That was lovely to read, he is absolutely gorgeous and he suits his name so perfectly. Hope you have lots of fun with him.
I really think I’ve found my forever horse that’s what I’ve been looking for. Plus who doesn’t love Colin Firth as Mr Darcy. Mr Darcy (the horse!) is so calm and well mannered just like him! Hopefully he will tackle water obstacles just like Colin Firth in the film ??

What a story!! And absolutely gorgeous too, my 3 year old daughter saw the picture and said ‘mummy I want THAT one!!’ ?

Your enthousiasm is quite catching. He is a great looking horse. Sound you two are going to do fun things (I'd wish I could jump 1.10!).

That's a great story!

I fell in love with my current two-year old head over heels. Wasn't planning on buying a horse yet. And if I did, it had to be a backed mare. So I bought a young stallion... Oh well, it just HAD to be him.

Love it! That’s classic, going for the exact opposite of what you wanted ?
