The retired senior mare is by far still the spookiest mare here.

I took her in the arena today for a 10 minute in hand walk over poles, it helps to keep her loosened up.

Omg, a pink balloon thing had crash landed landed near the electric fence in the field, and was flapping about in the breeze. There were snorts and cavorts.

She'd settled down quite a bit before I dared to take this pic, but she still had no intention of going in the corner! She always was a lovely ride, but her sideways teleport was legendary - no wonder that they often used to unseat me :D.

Nice to see her so bright, though, she's been rather dull lately. She's got a chiro vet check on Monday, which always does her good.

Today the 26 year old, out on a hack, went past the plastic bin, that she's been past three times already this week without so much as batting an eyelid, with eyes on stalks and a very wide berth. The older they get the worse they get, or is it just to keep us on our toes if we get too chilled with them?

My ladies current nemesis is prams! World was at and last week on a hack when we saw someone pushing one! Now desensitising with my dog stroller ?

The bin probably looked at her funny ;)

The calves that we hack past at least twice a, week had obviously turned into horse eating calves last night. Much snorting and going sideways when we went past them.

We had a situation with a Spiderman balloon that blew into my field, causing me to come as close to being decked without actually being decked as i've ever been. We spent an hour having an animated discussion about whether it was reasonable for a 20 year old horse to be so ridiculous, which ended in an uneasy truce.
I went back to the field, collected the balloon, and made him eat his dinner off it for a few days. Once he was ignoring it, I put it back in the field, and rode him out there...
I'm sure you can guess what happened!
