Just isnt selling!!

Ive had hundreds of emails and phone calls about him but no one is interested because of he's age :(

Some of the people sounded so perfect for him, but they cant believe at hes age he can be as safe and well behaved as he is. Such a shame. Hes main adverts have all expired now, not really sure what to do with him now.

Has anyone else had problems selling because of an age?

Can you provide a link to the advert? Or show us what in is the ad (and maybe a pic)? Apologies if you have already done this, but the posts seem to disappear so quickly!

Well I think he's lovely - I would certainly have been interested in him 6 months ago if I hadn't found Harvey.
My only suggestion would be, how about just putting the price you would accept for the horse and say tack available by separate negotiation?
Many people have a search criteria and it may be that they will only search for horses say up to 3500, so although you might let your boy go for that, he wouldn't be found in that persons search?
Also, maybe cut down the pics to just one jumping, one side view to show conformation and maybe a happy hacking type view. Horses in pics with rugs on could be hiding something!
Good luck, I am as surprised as you he hasn't sold, looks a really nice boy.

Hi, I really think those pictures aren't helping! They're very poor quality and do not show off his movement, jump or looks at all. Also, I'd be a bit more factual and say how high he jumps, how often he competes, how quiet he is- good in traffic etc, stands well out hunting, ties to the box at shows... If you want to sell him as a quiet all rounder you'll need to put all that info on there. Cute boy though ;)

I'd have to agree about the pictures. If I was looking and I saw your add I'd scroll right past based on the pictures. Try and get some in decent light, a side on confo shot, a side on jumping shot and a flatwork or hacking photo. You cannot get a real sense of his confo from any of your photos.

I agree, the photos make him look very novicey and your ad is full of spelling mistakes... I wouldn't be interested in him at that price purely because of the ad.

Get some nice pics and re-write the ad to sound a little more professional and I bet you'll have more interest :)

Can you help me out on the pelling mistakes please as i cant find them lol.

He was on horsemart and horsequest but im not going to put him back on there until i get better pics. Ive got a young girl up the yard to jump him for me so i can get some good pics.

I agree, i am **** at adverts lol x

I agree that a more professional ad might help. My suggestion would be to use

1) a nice conformation photo without tack where he standing nice and square. If you have anything from an inhand show you could use that, if not just take a tidy photo on the yard.

2) jumping photo that shows more scope/technique, for example over a big spread or x-country fence. IMO the front legs look a bit untidy in one of the photos, and the fence is so small it does not sell his jumping ability. Perhaps you have a nice photo of him jumping something out hunting?

3) A photo from a dressage competition if you have one, or a nice schooling photo where he is working correctly in an outline.

Best of luck.

Great advice thanks, im going to get some nice pics in the next couple of days, the young rider i have kidnapped (lol) is a very confident jumper so she will put him over a 4ft course for me :) Im also going to get a couple from our water complex and that. Thankies x

I can't add anything other than it must be very frustrating. I hate when people can't see past a horse's age, it really is just a number! We have a bomb proof 3 year old (coblet) at our yard who is 100 times better behaved than the 25 year old Arab.

I back my friend ID x TB and she literally was a 'laugh in the face of danger' type mare. First hack we met a bin lorry on the country road, the intermediate eventer had a fit and had to take a lead from the (just) 4 year old. Could you miss the horse's age out until people come to see him, or lie until the last minute :)

Have you tried PC website? If he is already known at your PC you should be well away. He looks lovely, just my sort (if I was looking). I agree the pics are a bit duff, (lovley pic of a pet, but no good for selling), I also second adjusting the price to reflect with & without tack, although if you are like me I like to sell with a saddle if possible so I know the horse isnt going to have something unsuitable plonked on them!

Is the horse 6 or now rising 7, that may help in an add. I guess some people know that horse can have a bit of a kevin the teenager spat at around 6 and are wary. I think if you try again, now that sping is here you are bound to have some luck.

Dont loose heart and try again,

Lol, i did joke with the owner and say change his age to 10..

It is very frustrating, my gelding is 11 and i would never put my mum or two year old son on him, and definitely not let him in his stable, where Bounty is fab, my mum has hacked him out (shes not ment to ride due to back problems) and my son often brushes his legs and has a plod around on him. He has always been this quiet, its a shame.

Goodness, we are in kent and my partner is looking for a horse JUST LIKE this. sadly it's a little out of our price range but tbh I think the right owner will come along.

He has just turned 6 which is why people are put off. Didnt think of PC, he is well known around here by the 'mums' because he is such a sweety so that a good idea.

About the tack, yes im like you, the saddle he has is very comfy and it fits him like a glove so i really want him to go with his own stuff. But, if it comes to it i could change it to being seperate.

Thanks all x
