... to call my horse fat and unfit! That's why I didn't take Liberty hunting on New Year's day, today I decided to give him a pop, having done an hour's dressage yesterday and having already been on an hours walk round the block being led from William. Took him in the field, trotted at a small fence, popped it, and dumped me over his shoulder in the next stride. Got back on with my hand hurting like hell, cantered him round a bit, then tried again, and exactly the same thing happened. Lunged him at a gallop for half an hour, got back on, and made him do it properly. Can feel myself seizing up though, reckon I'll probably be even crosser tomorrow! Moral of the story: never insult your horse within his earshot!

PMSL - horses have feelings you know. Hope you haven't done yourself any serious damage. I recommend a hot bath followed by a bottle of wine, for you that is - not Liberty

Perhaps it wasn't that Liberty was insulted (although he's not nearly as meek as when he arrived), but that Wi;lliam had heard me mentionning selling him far too much lately and told Liberty to catch me unawares! When I marched back into the yard with steam coming out my ears and went hunting for the lunge line W looked distinctly smug!

On the plus side B passed the vet today so is off on Saturday!

Still at the same place I moved to 18 months ago! It is nice, although not turning mine out at the moment as it's just asking for trouble with shoes, tendons and mud-fever.... Are you riding at all at the moment?

where is it? mum is loooking to move zeus.

i was riding before xmas, having lessons on this amazing dressage horse , but 20 quid for half hour just cant afford it.

trying to find someone who will let me ride their horse missing the hard work side of not having a horse aswell! so fingers crossed something comes up!

have u been out competing?

Sorry that did make me chuckle!
A few years ago I was hacking Chocolate out and met a mate teaching in th elocal arena, she said she had always wanted to ride him so on she popped, asking if he was well mannered. "Oh he's perfectly behaved, he never bucks" I said.
Well she played with him over some jumps, for around 15 mins, then I hacked home again. I decided to have a canter round a couple of fields, opened the gate and went in, asked for canter and got the biggest buck I've ever stuck on in my life!!! I saw his bum appear behind my left shoulder and I screeched "CHOCOLATE, no!" before I almost fell off..
I stopped him and asked again with very strong control and he cantered off like a lamb, but I swear the bugger understood exactly what I'd said and was showing me he was no pussy cat...
I think it will be some ibuprofen for you tonight!
