It's great isn't it?
I make sure Donnegan has a clean bed with hay and fresh water to come into every night. He spends all day lounging about in the field. He no longer has to work anymore even though he is only 13 and how does he show his appreciation?

By being a complete g*t when I bought him in last night and ended up stepping on my toe. So far this year he has broken my collar bone and my toe. Think I might leave him in the field and just pat him on the head occasionally as I'm worried what's gonna be next

Hamsters smell tho - i would just go to get him in full body armour including a crash helmet

or you could just let him live out - maybe he is trying to tell you something????

Is there a reason he isn't working? Sometimes work is what they need to keep them balanced

Yep, he's broken

He has arthritis in his coffin joint and a problem with his pelvis which meant that he could no longer be in full work. Tried reducing it and he was getting unpredictable when ridden. With two small children and another horse aswell as him to look after it just wasn't worth the risk anymore

Hmm, full body armour is what I need

I wonder if Ebay has any?

He wouldn't live out all year even if they would let him at the yard. He stays out for a month longer than the other horses with my friends filly and he is hopeless

He stands at the gate waiting to come in

Know what you mean - my little sod peed off leading him in wed night and bowled me over

That was with headcollar and chain over nose.

Last night he had half bridle with rubber snaffle and headcollar with chain over his nose.

He only ever does it coming in from the field in winter when it's dark so it's difficult to train him out of it and he's nearly 19 now

All started when he was 6yo and I had him on full livery - staff there at the time decided easiest way to get the horses in (or laziest) was to open all the gates and stable doors then call all 25 of them up - I went mad when I found out (6 weeks later)

Try ebay - they seem to sell everything!!!!

I've got one that won't live out so I know what you mean about waiting by the gate tho.
