I'm sick and tired of my bl00dy horse napping at every opportunity

It's not fun, it's embarrassing and it's stopping us from getting out there and doing stuff

I've come to the end of my tether with it, so I spoke to the girl at the yard where I work at weekends and he's going there for two weeks. She says she can show me some 'techniques' so I can deal with it and if the worst comes to the worst she'll get on him for me. Hopefully we'll be able to put a stop to it - he'd be a super horse if he just behaved himself! It's so annoying!

My highland used to be a terrible napper and I got frustrated with it too. Not that I took it out on him, but I had to psyche myself up to ride him.

I got over this with work in hand. Everytime he would refuse to go forward, rear, buck, try to scrape me off in the hedge, spin, bronc etc, I would ask him to circle and sometimes just made him stand still until he got bored.

I was worried that his tack didnt fit and had that and his teeth checked and continued the battle of wills. It worked eventually, the only place I couldnt get him anywhere near was up a road where there was a battery hen unit and slaughter house - but I do not blame him for not going, I didnt like it either.

He has only done it I have noticed when we have changed yards.

I hope you have success with your horse. Its very frustrating.
