Just seen that but I am gutted cos I qualified by winning a 1m class in area 33 but there seems to be no second round for the 1m in area 33!! AARRGGHHH!! BSJA can be soooo frustrating!

The second rounds are allocated by region rather than area. There should be a 2nd round in an adjoining area if not in yours per se

I agree though, that it looks like a bit of travelling will be in order lol!

Yes I thought there would have to be something reasonably close but there was nothing at any of out USUAL haunts unfortunatley. Not sure whether to even go for the second round - don't you usually get thousands of people in these things!!??? Thats why Ive not bothered with my Discovery 2nd round - unless you think you hve a really good chance I think they can be a bit of a nightmare? any thoughts?

Well, the Amateur 2nd Rounds and the Discovery 2nd Rounds are a completely different kettle of fish.

The Amateur 2nd Rounds will run over the same size track as the 1st round qualifying competion. i.e 1m in your case.

The Discovery 2nd Round goes up a level to 1.10m in the 1st round, and is run over 3 rounds (i.e 2 rounds and a JO against the clock). This means the the final JO can get up to something approaching 1.30m

I have no experience of the Amateur's as this is my first year back after a long lay off, but I am guessing competition will be fierce and entries possibly large. The only saving grace (if you can face the travelling) is that you can enter as many of the 2nd Rounds as you like...anywhere in the country...or at least that's my understanding of it lol!

OHH!!! ok! Thanks for that. You may have guessed I am fairly new to BSJA so Im just trying to learn all the time with how it all works. I didn't realise that the amateur champs stayed same height. My best friend who I jump with and our trainer explained the discov and said that it did get really fierce but maybe the amaturs is more friendly! I'm not ready for the 1.10m fences yet - I don't know why the 5cms from 1.05m (which i love) to newcomers seems so scary! just seems soooo wide!!!! just call me a wimp! have only managed to face going over 2 newcomers tracks so far!!

Another one confused here!
I Qualified for the 1m20, but on the pdf on the bsja website it says something about all 1m20 qualifiers automatically go thru to the final at Arena UK!??! confused! does that mean I do 2nd rounds or not?

This is the first year it has been run, so no one knows whats going on least of all the BSJA. Over here we have probably had 3 first round classes thats all. There is also supposed to be a regional league based on your points you have scored in the amateur classes - bit hard if they don't hold them. Do you get them where you are based?

We definatley haven't had any 1.20 classes and we've got 2 regional finals for it, one at the Hand and one at West Wilts, going to be a lot of entries in them. So if you want to qualify come on over. Think we might have had one 1.10 class, so Hand and west wilts both have 2nd rounds. Theres going to be no one in them

Not necessarily...anyone can enter them...from any region

In answer to a previous post too...all people who qualified in 1.20m 1st Round classes go through to the final automatically, and the 2nd round comps will be held as final qualifiers too, so anyone can enter them and qualify direct for the finals

What I was trying to say was as no one has jumped a first round in our area all the usual culprits won't be entering as no one is eligible and therefore the classes will be pretty empty apart from people from out side our area.

But if you can jump the 1.20 second round withot having jumped a first round thats a bit different now.

I'm surprised about the disparity in the number of qualifiers in different areas though. Our area has been awash with them with most shows that run 2 rings, running a dedicated 'Intro' ring as their ring 2.

Didn't they run the Amateur Champs last year though

I seem to recall reading a write-up in H&H about the finals that were held at Addington Manor if I remember rightly

I know the regional leagues thing is new this year though...

There was an amateur champs for the past few years and each region had the 2 qualifying rounds as the first and only round to get to the final. But these amateur classes are new.

We've had one Intro show here that had a .90 & 1m, but that was a late addition show that I think the BSJA encouraged the place to put on, and no amateur shows. Dorset put on a 1m amateur class at 2 of their shows. And their might have been a 1.10 at Badgeworth in April and Stourhead in August. But that is it. We tend to jump in Glos, Wilts, Somerset, wales and Dorset. No one else has put any of these classes on.

Does seem pretty lame round here.

The league tables are run by region I think. I remember my regional rep talking abuot them. Not sure how you find out where you stand on them though
