Set off to Brook Farm to do 2 tests, he's only not been going out since feb, as I've been concentrating on other things, but as he's fairly steriotypical WB in intelligence there was doubt as to if he'd remember he'd ever left the yard before
Thankfully after a minor nap in the car park as he was sad his human friends wern't coming with him to the warm up- odd horse naps to his people friends rather than other horses
he was as chilled out as he could be:
Warmed up starting off with transitions, then keeping it all soft and went in hoping he'd remember how to go, and stop. After he had about a week off recently this week I had to go back to basics, and teach him to go when told one day, then couldn't stop, atall, the next
Thankfully he did indeed go, and stop. And even went past the sposors shavings bedding, which last time caused an amatuer dramatics performance both before and in the test.
Didn't have time to get off between tests which isn't great for him as he is v babyish still and likes to rest
Tried to get him a bit more forwards in the warmup as the previous test, though started and stopped was all a bit too nothingy.
Really rode him forwards through the test, which I think worked in parts, but did cause him to lose balance on the serpintines as I wasn't giving him a decent contact. In the first loop back in canter he decided I was tricking him, and he hates being tricked
Luckily we didn't have a paddy rearing attack but got over it, even if his ears were back the next move
Both tests got 60%, and about middle of the large classes, so although we didn't exactly set the world on fire we have a base to work from. He got 7's for his paces, some 7s for his canter work, which I think is a first, and a 7 for his medium trot which is very
As that's what I've been teaching him most recently and was definately not a button that came readily installed. Ready to crack on and get some decent lessons to get me into enough of a shape where I can really get the most out of him. I hope slowly but surely he's maturing, it's easy to forget he hasn't yet turned 5. He's not got a break as is off showing tomorrow, and then a few lessons and arena hires ready for his next BD at the end of the month where we're also doing the young horse class despite being out of their league, 'cos I want to be posh and I've got a horse that atleast partly looks the part in that he's bay and full size
