A few people have mentioned that after a while barefoot you encounter a period of soreness. I think I have hit that point and wondered how long it was likely to last.
Horse in question had some historical foot balance issues leading to mild coffin joint changes, all easily managed and sound to compete. Horse had a years maternity leave unshod on grass. Then returned to work on weaning with the shoes left off. All great, full of herself (too much so) but very confident on feet and feeling very sound. 8 weeks in and she is fairly suddenly feeling footy. I've moderated work accordingly but need a timeframe in my mind to get back on track before reconsidering shoes.
Any experiences?
