the beach

I got pulled up and told off for galloping down Southport Beach!!!!!! Have been a few times and parked up near Pontins and then ridden up to the Squirrel reserve and back.

I usually go over to Knott End/Preesall (its a bit of a way out thou!) as I have friends over there.

Or St Annes is nice, but I struggled to find somewhere to park last time, had to park on the Prom which is not ideal!

Formby Point is the best IMO.

You have to pay a bit for parking, and they did have a permit/wristband thing in action so that you prove you've permission to ride there.

The best thing is though that because it's national trust beach, that they don't allow alot of the sand buggies etc, and so it's much more horse friendly.

There's also a marked track at the back of the dunes so that the horses dont access the beach at the same point as the pedestrians.

It's my favourite place to take the horses!!

My local beach is West Kirby and imo its fab. You can go right the way along to hoylake, then you can get off the beach and go along some bridle paths onto a huge big common in leasowe, and if you go the other way you can get off and go along the Wirral Way bridle path which is really nice aswell.
