The best coat shine is always promoted from within. So I'd agree with the linsead oil - or have you thought about feeding black sunflower seeds. Thumper is gleaming since he's been fed these (alongside Alfa A oil).

Some of the well known coat shine products contain LOADS of silicone which can be really damaging to the environment, i agree with everyone from above who recommends oil or high oil products. It really dosnt take long to see a difference!

Also seaweed (not for broodmares) is superb for darkening the coat and bringing out dapples!!

My TB has a dollop of veggie oil added to his feed twice a day and his coat is super shiney even though he never gets groomed ...only ever a quick flick over before a ride which isn't very often atm...
This was him the other day...

From within - black sunflower seeds and instant linseed - mine shine already.

Then, I do like the alva products - I use alva sparkle after his bath and really brush the coat, then on with his dress circle suit over night which helps again polish the coat. I also brush his mane, tail and feather through with EQyss Survivor which leave ths hair tangle free, and very glossy.

Next day I applie avla gleam and again brush like mad, then use my sheepskin mit and finally a soft cloth to polish him up.

Mane and tail - Supreme sparkle. I also use their white cover magic on any tiny stains left over - far better than chalk as it does not come off as easily on his black tail.

I also find a tiny splash of pig oil in hot water applied with a cloth over the coat also gives a great shine and is cheap - lot of the producers use it for evening performances

Micronized linseed - less messy than oil and more palatable, and elbow grease!

a dollop of baby oil in the final rinse when you bath them also works wonders

Another vote for cooked full fat linseed meal. My girls are gleaming this winter, since I started using it. That, and good old grooming with the odd spray of Canter Coat and Canter Mane & Tail spray

Linseed is the only way

My very dark brown (nearly black) mare sparkles all the time yet she only gets a flick over once a day.
