I have found the best fly spray, that actually WORKS!!

It does exactly what it says on the bottle, provides 7 hours fly protection - even on a thin skinned tb horse who is like chocolate to clegs/flys/midges!

) and is a red and white bottle:)

I tried the Deet one and it was great for all midges apart from Horse flies. I have since gone out and brought Coopers and it seems to be really good. You apply it with a sponge. It lasts for 2 to 4 days at a time. When I put it on yesterday I had got it all over apart from Candy's ears and a fly landed on his ear.I wiped it off using my gloved hand which had coopers on it and the fly died on contact. It recommends using around 150ml per application and the bottle is a 500ml bottle but I am using less than recommended and finding it is lasting a few days each time on a horse who is really sensitive to flies. It costs around £24 a bottle but so far it seems a worthwhile investment.

Nothing comes close to Coopers as far as I'm concerned. It's powerful stuff and you have to be careful with it, but every horse I know who has had major fly problems in the past has been much better with Coopers useage. It's expensive but lasts ages (and can be found for £19 on the internet apparently).
Brilliant for our hacking which is covered in horse flies - they don't touch them with Coopers applied, and it only has to be done every couple of days.
