After growing up with horse I like many had a long patch without then decided to start again. After a riding accident funnily enough i decided a share wouldn't do and bought my 1st horse.
It went wrong due to dodgy dealer but I went on quickly to find my next horse. I bought him last June lame but he has come right and I couldn't be happier with him.
I invested in new clippers and spent ALL day on 31st (yes i do mean ALL day) clipping him even his face n ears.
Today I went up and pulled his mane and basically had a beauty session on him as one of his shoes looks suspect and farrier cant get out till wed.
Ok so he was looking for treats but he is such a sweetie and nuzzled me so i was bent over backward and he gave me a few big wet licks on the face and yes right on the mouth. Looking for treats?? or my new year kiss? Id like to think the latter.
What a lovely start to the new year. I should be entering my first dressage stuff with him this year as his schooling is coming on well . Hope I do ok too.
Whats your magic new years starts with your 4 legged friends

Aw that sounds lovely, and like he enjoyed the attention too. Good luck with your dressage. We spent all day tidying the yard and brought all the horses in for a groom and a thorough check over, just had a really lovely relaxed day with them really.

nice just to be around them And im a clean fanatic so love grooming and tidying the yard etc :D

Aww he sounds like my boy! :) I was working early this morning, then I took my spotty boy out for a lovely long hack with one of the other liveries from the yard, then I came home for a bit and went back up late this afternoon to school my ISH and finish them off for the night. :)

  • Harvey picked up all four feet today without any argument
  • Rode for the first time in 6 weeks due to weather etc.
  • Harvey didn't trip once
  • I didn't feel nervous once...

To many this will seem very boring, but means the world to me!

Must have been a new year thing, I got my 3 in this afternoon tied them up on the yard with haynets and spent loads of time individually on each grooming, then they all had a bit of a trim up, tails and manes pulled a bit and a general pamper, was at the yard all on my own, me and my 3 girls ............. it was bliss there was no-where else I would rather have been :)

no no sounds magic I get so paranoid if my ride is trippy which seems to happen with me a fair bit over the years and ive been squished during a fall so i think that. It sounds sooo nice I cant stand being nervous when riding. Sounds great long may it continue :D

totally agree what else was nice was no real traffic noise in distance so it reminded me of being back in Scotland in the middle of nowhere with my horse as a kid. As if teh world stopped n it was just us
