was shoe her. I know some people are barefoot people and she was barefoot for the best part of 18 years.

For people who don't know her, she's a 14.2hh arab mare with rotated pedal bones. She had laminitis when she was about 8 years old, which then caused her pedals to start rotating. She then had badly out-of-balance feet which caused them to rotate more with the way the foot was growing. She got to the point where she was getting dangerous to ride, she was unhappy walking on hard ground and I wasn't happy riding her, let alone fighting with her to walk down the road. (and i love naughty horses but i knew that she was being more than naughty, she was in pain). So I spoke to my farrier and she's now got nice little aluminium shoes on her front and shes happier than ever.

Previously I tried barefoot trimmers and remedial trimmers, but now she's got shoes on she's happier and a lot calmer. My theory was that she was running from the pain of the concussion on her feet.

Just a useless thread but i thought i'd post it anyways :) :)

I think this is a perfect example of why people should celebrate the different options we have as owners to make things as best they can be for our horses rather than bicker about it :)

What works for one horse certainly doesn't work for all so well done on finding a solution lovely! My boy is barefoot but I would have no hesitation in getting shoes put on if he needed them.

Hope things continue to improve! xx

Glad your horse is ok, just goes to show we as owners have to do whats right for our individual horses.
