I am SUPER envious of people that post their beach ride pics.... I will do it with my boy one day... so I want to know everyone's recommendations... nationwide... with pics if you want!

Mothecombe in Devon (as in International Velvet)

unfortunately it is a private beach but if you go on the Dartmoor Hunt ride through the Flete estate you can go on the beach. We ended up there at lunchtime at low tide and it was fab - unfortunately I don't have any piccies

Sorry no pics but we go to Fraisthorpe, near Bridlington, East Yorkshire.
You go down a long farm track then park in the farmers field for a couple of quid and then straight down to the beach. It's lovely, long, wide, sandy and no too busy, as there is no shops, etc nearby.
Unfortunately I have unhappy memories of our last trip there in Sept 08, as my horse went lame and she never recovered and was put down on NYE 08. RIP Jez.

But don't let that put you off, it's still lovely!

I'm super lucky as I have a beach 2 mins ride from the yard. Through a field, over the dunes and you're there!

It's Newburgh beach you ride onto but you can ride all the way to Aberdeen on the beach if you fancied. Would take you a few hours but do-able

It's pretty amazing riding along the beach at 9pm with nobody else about.

I don't know how post a photo

I'm very lucky in that I have an ok beach (Barry Island) within 10 minutes drive although you have to get there very early in the summer to get enough beach for a gallop before the hoardes arrive, and two great beaches with about 40 minutes. Merthyr Mawr or Kenfig Pool near Bridgend are both lovely. Kenfig has a better beach, Merthyr Mawr has much nicer sand dunes so a nicer ride to the beach (you need apermit for MM though although you can buy a day permit I think) As they both take a good 20 minutes over the sand dunes to get to them, you don't usually get too many people on either of them.
Rhosilli on the Gower is great as well but you get a lot of surfers, kite flyers and families there in the summer, it's great in the winter or on a less sunny day though and I know a great place there that does horse B&B if you fancy a weekend away. There's loads of other great rides around the area as well, not just the beach.

Mine has a good gallop (the only place I ever really let him go flat out as he's quite strong!) but doesn't go craaaaazy, just fast! He loves it though it's one place he seems genuinely excited, rather than a mixture of excited and stressed. He jogs all the way to the beach with his ears pricked and a real spring in his step.

Ainsdale Beach where Red Rum et al used to train. Takes forever to get to the water as it always seems to be miles out but nice all the same.

Holkham Beach in Norfolk is spectacular. It is privately owned, so you can ride all year round - there is a fee for parking your box. Best to check the tides first. It is the beach that is featured on the TV series Kingdom.

near me its not a beach beach but it is lol Its stony and sandy but its the river. We have 3 we can ride along and if the tide is in you can ride in the water (which youd never catch me doing tack to expensive lol) but its really lovely its a 2 hour + all round ride but so nice to plod to and have a glallop back ect. its along the river Orwell and river deben I think its is Nr Ipswich suffolk not the prettiest but nice enought.

Here are 3 beaches I have taken my 2 on. All fab beaches, couldn't pick the best.

Pembrokeshire - Druidston Haven (plus Nolton, Newgale and Druidston depending on the number of tourists about!)

Had a brilliant summer working at a local stables there, and the beaches were great. When the tide was right out, Druidston Haven and Nolton joins up into one giant beach.

Don't have any pictures as I'm at work, but I've just discovered the stables is still going and they have a website with photos on: Nolton Stables

I agree Pembrey is definately the best that I have been to in Wales. We went a few weeks ago and the riding through the forestry and down to the beach is great.

Another vote for Holkham beach. We took half our pony club branch there last year and had a fab time. The parking costs £10 a lorry but it saves all the worry of finding somewhere to park. And there's a little coffee stall on busy days.

You can go for miles along the beach and get away from the people and dogs. Will get daughter to add a pic later - she is better at it than me!

St Ninian's tombolo.

Had the horses to the first, hoping to do St Ninian's soon. Great beaches, usually empty and totally unpolluted! Can't beat them

Wow so jelous!! Its my dream to ride my girl on the beach, may be going this summer but trying not to get my hopes up as I don't know whether the 2.5hr travel is fair on my horse when she doesn't travel amazingly well. We'll see how we go anyway.
