Research shows that people in the UK often feel guilty when it comes to making a choice between and animal and a people charity.

The Brooke’s ‘Help Both’ campaign, www.helpboth.org, highlights the work it does benefiting animals and people – by helping one, you can help the other.

How do you organise your charitable support? Do you share your support between animals and people? Maybe 50 or 50 – or more one way or the other?

We are a small charity and also help/work with people.
I know it is not the same as the fantastic work the brook do but i believe to stop animal abuse we need to work with people.
We work with travellers as they do not go to college or read magazines. Their knowledge is passed down through the generations but times have changed.
We have made a real difference with the travellers and their horses that we have worked with. They are also extremely grateful and are passing on their new knowledge. In the long term it will help the horses.
We also work with new owners etc as it is often lack of knowledge that causes what we see as cruelty.
As for those go out to be cruel the laws need changeing. I could go on andd on as it is my favourite subject but people need working with to make a real difference and stop the negligence which leads to cruelty.
It is no good just pouring money into takeing neglected horses in. The problem needs solving at source.

I support the Brooke as well as a range of other animal and people charities. Probably 75% of my donations go to animal charities and 25% to people ones.

I think it's important to support charities that help people but I know that fewer people will donate to those that work to help animals as many people don't have pets/horses/livestock. That's how I've made my decision.
