Well I posted yesterday how my horse has overnight turned into the horse from hell...and it must be down to the changed in temperature because I looked back in my diary and he was the same in previous years.
Well oh dear...he got me off today in the field

I am okay...bit sore around the lower back area but I will live. The little sh*t really did want me off as he went into bronk mode, which I have not seen for 2 years now and twisted and turned and bronked until I hit the decks

which to my credit was some effort on his part because I stuck with it a while!

So anyway...I know how to stop this and that is to put his rug on...it has immediate effect because he is that sensitive to changes in weather. But will this have a negative effect when the real cold weather happens??? I want to give him a bib clip in 2/3 weeks too, so will he still be alright warmth wise with the same rug on if I put it on now??? Please help and advise

By the way, in case you are wondering, yes I got straight back on, made him do some circles in trot and then hacked him in trot for an hour to get some of the beans out of him!

I would say put a light weight on now, clip him and see how he goes, if he is that sensitive then you may need to layer some light rugs, then change to a medium then add a light layer and then change to a heavy weight when the weather gets really bad, you can then layer the heavy if he is feeling the cold again by Jan, or before if needed.
Hope this helps and makes sense.

Mine had settled down a bit yesterday, having had a night in and m/w rugs on seems to have done the trick. However didn't stop one of mine barging out of the stable this morning, for one horrible minute I thought she had broken one of my fingers...nearly joined the HHO broken digits club

I seem to have the same problem with my cob LOL. Shes been really placid and quiet to ride all summer but has now started to get a bit full of herself. I too think its the weather as, looking back, she has always seemed to change when the weather gets bad or cold. Lightweight rug it is then.....
