Wow talk about hot off the press - THank you Lu!!!

Wish them all a safe trip and a cool landing! Lucy will get her chance one day im sure (bring on 2012) - shes talented and still got youth on her side I think perhaps for the heat inferno that HK will throw at them its almost best the "eldest" most expericenced lot are going.

What about the other UK-based riders, ie Clayton, Lucinda,Toddy, did they leave today too?

Yes

Poor Lucy, in her column in the Western Morning News today, she has a right old pop at the selectors, she said Shaabrak is fighting fit, raring to go and is now going to miss out

And the poor girl is bitterly dissappointed, not just for herself but her whole team and the owners.

What a shame for Lucy....
Lou or anyone else who knows: Why isn't she on the team if there is no fitness or health issue with Shaabrak ? Surely she's proven herself

Shaabrak had a foot abscess just before the final trials at Barbury, therefor the selectors decided as he couldn't keep doing the fittening work (but was swimming every day) they had to rule him out.

hmm, but if Tina's horse had a soundness issue after galloping a few days ago, i'd have thought Lucy should have gotten her place back.

But that was just hearsay, wasnt it?

The thing with Ross is, he's always a bit wrong here and there.. but the fact that he may miss a few days fittening work in the past has never upset his comp. record!!!
Hence why Lucy is so upset, as she knew he'd be right in time, but no one would listen to her... but then on the selectors side of things, rules is rules, and Ross wasn't ready when they wanted him to be

thanks for the link.
bless her, i really admire her grit. there's a very good article by her in this month's Horse magazine too... she says her finances are such that a good Burghley would probably be more useful to her than a clutch of medals, and that everything happens for a reason, and she's sure when she gets 2 golds at London 2012 she'll look back with gratitude etc on this!

Thanks L - been thinking about this all day at work "ooo it's midday, wonder who's flying" etc

Such a shame for Lucy but I'm guessing the selectors have these deadlines for reasons. She's someone who's only going to get better so looking forward to 2012

Oh dear, what disappointment

sadly there were always going to be talented riders and horses who wouldn't be boarding today. Best of luck to all who have. x

well as i understand it lucy said her piece to the powers that be in person as well so fair play to her but it seems all rumours of one being lame were more like hopeful specuation from posssibly the connections at wilton. i do know who was telling who but it doesnt matter now anyway. lets hope we get a medal x
