Just passing through...
...and cost me £40!
Went for a hack with daughter (on Little Cob). Trolling along and I thought, the Dizz doesn't feel quite right, nothing drastic, just not her usual joyful self, so we turned for home. We'd been out for about half an hour, so they'd had a bit of exercise.
Anyhoooo, on the way back, I asked the ginger nutty one to stand still while I asked daughter something. The nut stood, for about sixty-three seconds, then Little Cob moved off and the Dizz went to move without me asking her: we have a bit of an issue with standing still, so I said 'No, wait a nano-second'.
Well, did she have a hissy fit or what!
. I had to grab a handful of mane at one point! There was no way she was going to stand still; and there was no-way we were leaving that spot without her standing still for at least a nano-second! She's too damn big to be so damn rude
We got our nano-second (was actually a bit longer, she decided that I was the boss after all
).
Got a bit further along, to the last road, and I told daughter who was ahead to trot up the hill. This is something we do often. Dizz followed, then broke into a canter. I laughed and asked again for trot, and she did it again, then started snaking and bouncing! Think snake on a roller-coaster
. She would not listen to me at all, other than not bogging off completely. Cars had to stop. Then she span and we were going backwards, with me yelling 'Not the van!' - there was one vehicle parked up, and we hit it, backwards, with the ginger nut's bum
Short story, she was then as good as gold for the last few minutes of the hack (we pulled into a drive entrance so the que of traffic could go past). When we got back, she was shaking
. No marks or bumps or bruises or swellings.
I drove back to the van. The owner was working on someone's wall and had seen it all
. The Dizz had dented the back door a bit; he managed to push most of it out, but there was one corner that didn't budge. No doubt a man with a rubber hammer will fix it. Anyhooo, I gave him £40 and he was happy with that.
I'm not riding her again until she's had her teeth done (this Thursday). I can't have a proper discussion with her when she has one of these moments if her teeth aren't right
. It's such a pain as she hasn't been this bad for months now. I joke about the Dizzy one, but I have to say that she's been really good for ages, with only the occasional bounce on her toes, but nothing drastic at all.
I'm wondering if it's the new feed. Bailey's Outshine was the latest and she's had that for three days now.
The day got slightly worse once we were back at the yard, but I'll make that a seperate post
.
