Just picked my boy up from the vets after having him castrated. He is zonked out by my feet at the moment so I lifted his leg to see whats what or more to the point what is now missing.
A question, as I wasn't sure what to expect, is it normal for the scrotum to be so baggy?? Does that shrivel up??
As you can tell I have never had a dog castrated before so I think in this case I am allowed to be a bit of a numpty :o

It is normal.

I have seen some that have shrivled up and some that have only shrunk a small amount . I think alot depends on the age of the dog.

My mums dog was done as a puppy (not by us) and he has nothing there yet the older dog was done at 6 and he still has a small sack hanging.

My dog was 18months when neutered and had quite a bit of swelling, I paniced a bit bt was assured this was natural. He had it done in Feb/Mar and although it shrivelled back a lot there is still some there.

you wait until it fills up with fluid next day... haha had so many ppl come to the vets for post op check and say ohhhh I thought you actually removed the testicles because they are apparenty there swinging away haha!

If its a young dog and the skin still elastic it will shrink up tight like it never happened xx

My 2 dogs were done as 5-6 mths and all they have it a slightly thicker patch of hair in that vicinity they are now 13 and 16! xx

Thanks for your replies.
He has woken up this morning as nothing has happened.I don't think he realises theres something missing lol
Wasn't keen to get in my van this morning as he obviously thought I was going to take him back to the vets and not to work with me.
Back to the vets for a check up tomorrow, so if I think of any more numpty questions I can ask them.
