My 18 yr old cob has had trouble losing her winter coat, and was sweating terribly every day, so on Saturday last week she was fully clipped.

On Tuesday she had a yellow crusted area on her rump about the size of a 10p that wasn't there on Sunday. She also had a smaller crusted area nearby that was about the size of a 5p and a third crusted area that was very very small. (all transluscent yellow crusts, no blood, no pain, no itching. all crusts removed very easily with no reaction at all from her)

Some people at my yard think it is ring worm. I figured that it wouldn't hurt to treat as if it was, so today i've used both canesten and povidone Iodine on her and am awaiting a delivery of Imaverol.

When I went up to treat her this afternoon, I struggled to find the 5p sized area and the smallest area has disappeared altogether. Does ringworm clear up this quickly?

In my experience of ringworm, (I am not an expert but this is my opinion formed over 10 years or so) that does not sound like it. at all. Firstly it doesn't have a yellow crust, it usually appears on the face first, and usually not just one patch, and definatley wouldnt clear up in 2 days.
However I haven't a clue what it was! Sorry! Perhaps an infected Fly bite - in which case a medicated shampoo will be cleaning her up in no time :)

It doesn't sound like ringworm to me. I've never seen it with yellow crusts.
An 18 year old horse hanging on to his coat and getting skin infections does sound like a candidate for Cushings though.
