This is a wonderful charity that is helping to preserve and utilise the Exmoor pony. I follow them on facebook and they have ponies for fostering at various stages of their lives (including ridden). Oh thank you that's great. I'm sure many people on here would love them. So full of character. Vian Smith's Parade of Horses was so good about them. Guessing Jilly Cooper thought so too as one of her descriptions was quite similar.

I support the charity but have five already! I do badly want to do some carriaging with them, but just working out whether to simply break the mares i have or get a/some geldings...and how old they should be and if i should have anymore human babies lol

thanks for the link. I've known a couple of exmoors and really liked them as a breed. If I ever get another I'm considering downsizing to a pony, so the fostering scheme sounds interesting, I'd not heard of them before.

I've got an Exmoor on loan atm who was reared on the moor. She is one feisty little beastie!

I wouldn't describe them as an "easy" pony, and for the majority of children I'd say they were certainly present a challenge, but are very lovable - and loyal - when you DO get to know them.

I have zero horses now and expect it to remain that way until the sprog comes and is a bit older. OH would divorce me if I had one horse, never mind two, I think, once we have a sprog in full time, cripplingly-expensive childcare! If you lived closer I would come and pet yours
