Tackling my confidence issues with a great friend at the moment. My confidence goes up and down like a yo yo and after a lovely summer suddenly came crashing down, and as a result pony picked up on my mood and things went from bad to worse. Mounting became a nightmare as P refused to stand, and the more I hesitated the worse the situation became. Then riding became a nightmare as P became less inclined to do anything as my instructions to her became more and more hesitant. With groundwork she remained brilliant though.

So back to basics on the end of a lunge line, doing old fashioned things like windmill arms, riding with knees up, just having good fun, and P doesn't bat an eyelid. also been practising getting on and off in a safe enclosed area and feeling more positive and optimistic. I am never going to be completely free of nerves but to look forward to getting on is so much more fun than dreading it!

Glad it's all working out! Wish I had support like that!

At the start of summer, things were great. I then had a fall that left me having panic attacks every time I went into canter/the horse jigged about when I mounted. Due to my job though I had to get on with it and battle through, luckily the other groom was great and let me exercise the quieter horses.

Going back to basics is always great, just think of the improvements you'll see in balance, position etc.!

Hope your confidence stays up! x
