Well, for those who were interested, Tallyho! and I tried a 10 minute remote Reiki session this evening. She rang me up to make sure we were both settling down at the same time and I sent her some Reiki. All I knew was that she had a bad back (because of her pitiful little please on the other thread asking if anyone would like to send her some healing). Please be gentle with us!

When I'd finished I scribbled a few notes, then we compared how it had gone a bit later on in the evening. I got:

(Just to explain, I sort of mentally move my hands when I'm sending the Reiki.)

I felt I needed to hold her shoulders, have my hands over both of her shoulders. I had so much heat in my left hand that I hardly moved that hand away for the whole session. On the right shoulder there was heat at first and then cold. The only time I've really experienced cold is when someone had been given steroid injections in a joint, it almost felt like a blocking.

I felt the need to cradle her neck with both hands, then to put my left hand back to that poor old left shoulder and move my right hand up a bit to hold and support the base of her skull. It felt as if I needed to help her to bear the weight of her head.

Top of head felt pins and needles in my hands, and a feeling of activity, as if she couldn't settle, maybe a busy mind?

Down at the heart chakra not really anything needed. That's where I normally pick up strong emotion, sometimes grief or worry.

Because I knew she had a bad back I move my hands down her back, feeling for hot spots. Maybe a bit on the left, then I had the feeling that my hands were resting on either side of her spine, at about hip level. Lots going on in my right hand, seemed something was needed there!

So, although I'd started out thinking about back problems, it seemed to me that the priority was neck and shoulders, particularly on the left side, and some sort of pain at the base of the skull, but there was something going on in her lower back on the right hand side.

And now... over to Tallyho!
 
We exchanged numbers yesterday after tinypony kindly responded to my plea! It was a serious plea and I was very grateful!

I was a guinea pig with an open mind. Never experienced anything like this before. I was told to settle in a quiet room, which I did, then rang tinypony to say i was ready. Guess what? well what seemed like 100 kids started screaming and making a racket outside so I had to move to spare room! Very cold in there, turned radiator off to save on heating. Anyway, I settled back down and just closed my eyes.

After a few minutes my back felt really warm. It wasn't the mattress, I don't normally feel warm in localised areas on my body. It takes me a while to warm up in bed. Then I just felt really sleepy. I actually fell asleep for about hlf an hour or so. I woke and slowly moved back to my bedroom. Still feeling sleepy. I am still here :). Not sleeping, obviously... but giving feedback to you lot!

I am quite astonished at what tinypony has found. My back does hurt on my right hip side. My shoulders have been a problem for a long time though. I always get neck ache (drive for a living - I didn't tell her that) and I have had shoulder surgery in my right shoulder and yes, also steroid injections.

I do find it hard to settle. I was surprised that I felt sleepy so early in the evening. That's normally my busiest time posting on random threads and Facebook! On a normal night, it takes me a good hour to fall asleep while my brain puts the world to rights. I am always stressed (HHO is my unwind) and frowning.

Had blood pressure taken today and its 120/70. Not normally an over emotional person, just really stressy in my head!

As a result, I am going to get my shoulder and neck checked out.

I am going to take advantage of the chilled out feeling I am experiencing and get a good nights sleep.

Happy guinea pig here and quite amazed she could pick that up about my shoulders from so far away. This is seriously freaky!

The thing about reiki is that it works even if you don't believe in it. the other thing is that, i have never given reiki to anyone or an animal without it having a positive effect but regardless of that, it never fails to give a brilliant nights sleep. Glad you enjoyed it. I saw the other post but let it be as I don't get involved in trying to change anyones mind. If they don't want to believe then that is fine with me. i know what i know and have seen brilliant results. I am pleased that tinypony enjoyed her session. It's not really freaky about sending it from a distance. It is all about energy, if you can phone across the world then you can send reiki. I regularly send reiki to Italy, france, greece, usa etc. to animals and people. I have been a reiki master for many years and am still sometimes stunned with what it can achieve. xx
 
Wow - I know nothing about reiki and didn't read the other thread but it sounds like something I'd be interested in trying for myself :)
 
I don't know why it works, but "something" happens most of the time.
I'm very careful about how I handle something like this. When I fed back to Tallyho I just told her everything I'd felt and thought during the Reiki and then listened to her comments after. I think there is a real danger that, if someone were to glean a little bit of info in advance, then when giving feedback they just paused and listened to comments after each sentence... they'd easily end up cold reading their client and not giving pure feedback.
 
I used to exchange 'virtual' hugs with a friend and I would always get really really warm. We used to joke about him sending me hot flushes. I've experimented a little with feeling auras and sending energy to others. Sadly I seem to be better at causing pain than easing it :).

Now for a confession... Some time back I was queueing at an airport and my stepson was directly in front of me and was being irritating. So I decided to experiment and did some visualisation using colour. My intent was to make him go to the loo.. In a hurry:o just a few moments into said experiment my son who was standing behind me made a very hasty departure in the direction of the.. Yes, guessed it. The loo! Guess he was more sensitive than stepson lol. Might be coincidence of course and I've not tried doing it since then. :)
 
yeah absolutely Tallyho. i don't really ask for detailed feedback, i don't feel i need it. I like to hear the following day if they feel better and how they slept. If i 'feel pain' somewhere, i will ask if that area has been sore but that is it. I tend not to get involved in the experiment thing as i did it some years ago with a sceptic and they said they felt nothing and slept pants etc. i was a bit upset until i heard from a third party that they had reported back to them that they had lied and they felt heat and less sore, best sleep in a long time etc, so i decided not to try and prove a sceptic wrong again. some people just like to try and get one over on you. Not that i think tinypony would of course, nor do i mean she was a sceptic. nice that she has been so honest.
 
I find this really interesting.

I have been for Reiki sessions on myself some time ago and without exception was able to chill out totally and "almost" sleep. I'm not very comfortable with touching or being touched by people who are not close to me so for me I asked the lady doing it to not physically touch me but hold her hands above the areas she was working on.

The heat from her hands was amazing. It felt like sitting right up to a fire. Without exception the sleep I had following the sessions was amongst the best ever.

I was going to ask elsewhere but here seems as good a place as anywhere - if you are trained in Reiki for people can you also put that into practice for animals (such as horses)? Or is it a different training for horses/animals?

How do you go about becoming trained? It's something I'd like to look into further as I think my horses would really enjoy it and benefit from it.
 
I understand it may be hard to do but would you be able to explain it a little to me? I know it involves sending and balancing the energy of your chakras but other than that i know little.
I am not a sceptic as in 'this is fake, they cold read, its just bull spit' as i am quite 'in tune' spiritually and often find myself in the presence of spirits (i don't see them ala sixth sense) so i am rather open minded and would like to learn more.

I had a really good sleep and had a dream about my Grandma which was just the best! I haven't dreamed about her for a really long time (passed away nearly 10 yrs ago) and she cooked me dinner and came to see my new filly. Probably nothing to do with it but I just feel really happy to see her... :)
 
Tallyho, I'm very pleased you had a great sleep and a lovely dream. Who knows what set that off, but it's lovely.

Just to mention, I sent the Reiki, Tallyho had a nice sleep!

All it involves - to me at least - is an uncomplicated settling of my mind, sending down a curtain of silver protection and healing between me and them, the focusing on them, saying something like "This for the greater good of x" and visualising healing energy coming up through my body and down through my head and out of my hands towards them. I sort of think of the silver curtain expanding out and covering them. Then for distance healing I visualise them in front of me and move my hands on their body. Their body is smaller scale if that makes sens. I don't think about balancing energy, I am aware of chakras but not fanatic about having to use them as a routine. I also use Reiki symbols, which I draw in my head and sometimes with my hand, saying the name of the symbol as I do it. My symbols are normally visualised as fire.

Yes, I don't mind doing this once more. Just to emphasise, it's not a test. I don't stand to gain or lose anything by this, I don't charge for my Reiki. I'd only ask for an honest response to be posted, even if it's a "nil return".

Oh, and yes, I do this for animals as well, in fact that is why I started to learn. The training wasn't any different. I found a Reiki master that I really liked and trusted and went from there.

What sort of things can reiki be used for? Is it for actual physical problems, or can it be for emotional things, etc?
 
I don't tend to go to the doctors much or therapists and suchlike. Like many Horse people we just get on with it until we just can't go on any more, and then we still try to push ourselves to go that extra bit just to be sure, I will however tell you my story.

Chestnuttymare sent me some Reiki Healing last Christmas after I fell over carrying a big bag of potatoes in my high healed boots (long story). I was watching TV on the Sofa when at 10pm (ish) I suddenly, out of the blue, felt really intense heat in the right of my lower back where the injury was. When I spoke to Chestnuttymare afterwards it was exactly the time when the healing was sent to me. I fell asleep watching the TV and the result was immediate relief from the pain which had been unrelenting.

The weird thing is Chestnuttymare is in Scotland and I am in MK. I don't know how it works or what the technical/spiritual mechanisms are but all I can say is it certainly worked for me.

I forgot i had done it for you. I have done a few people here.Keltic, fairynuff and a few others. I have the same sort of process as Tallyho. I visualise the purest white light coming down through me and down through my hands into the recipient. I don't touch the person or animal, not everyone likes to be touched, I have a lot of people who don't like massage for that reason so reiki is perfect for them. plus the sensations, (which can be heat, cold or even a vibrational buzzing sensation) can't be attributed to just body heat. It doesn't feel like that anyway, it is quite a unique feeling. Before i start i often use a crystal to sense which chakras are a bit blocked and usually they are related to where the person has pain or discomfort. I work down the chakras on one side then when i work up the other side and am guided to where i need to place my hands.
I do actually charge for my reiki, if i am going 20 miles to a horse for example i couldn't afford to do it for nothing, price of fuel etc. plus i need to live. If i offer someone reiki then obviously i don't want payment for it and i give more reiki away than i ever charge for. It is all about balance, it is the way of the world, giving and receiving.I never charge anyone with cancer though regardless of how far i travel to them. I also attune people to reiki.
ex racer rider, do you want a wee blast to try it if you are curious. again not an experiment, i am quite happy to let people experience it if they are interested in it. I have given reiki to a lot of people who have then gone on to be attuned.
 
Maybe pm Chesnuttymare? I'm not practicing at the moment.
Oh, and I think we need to be careful because it will be gutting if this thread gets pulled because someone thinks we're advertising. We're not, we're responding to the other recent thread about Reiki and just sharing experience. Just a thought. :-)
 
I will try edit my post out two tics xx all done..:D I was only mentioning the forbidden as didn't want to seem rude, cheeky or greedy and so shall send virtual mince pies your way..now how cool would that be if that worked as well as you did with TH!
