The ground is so hard that

My horses have started rolling in the school as I lead them out to field every single one of them .
Fatty started it and taught all the others .
If they did not trash the school when loose I would leave it so they could get in .

We've got a big dusty area that seems to be the rolling zone. I'm on clay and the cracks look like we've had an earthquake. Hoping for a decent downpour on Fri

One of my older boys has cuts on the front of his pasterns, presumably from when he's getting down to roll/sleep. Hadn't thought about putting them in the school - great idea

We've gone through hard into dusty desert. Bizarrely, the thick layer of dust is starting to make the going a lot softer in places - I actually cantered out hacking this morning. They roll in the dust too, so no issues with that.

I'd noticed a couple of little cuts on my mare that I thought might be horse fly bites got enlarged somehow. Maybe the horse flies are innocent and she's done it rolling. (We're also on clay, with cracks and a layer of dust on top.)

A memory just popped up on my facebook. 6 years to the day that the Pocket Rocket arrived. Just look how wet it was !

I can remember turning her out and hoping she didn't pull her shoes off or wreck the field. British weather is certainly diverse.
