Basically a friend bought a donkey imported from Ireland and he is passported with said society. It might be totally innocent, but passport looks almost homemade!
Don't want to say anything that might offend, but looks a bit suspicious!
Any thoughts?

Why would a donkey be registered with the gypsy cob society

Mine has one and it looks home made too. The spelling is wrong and it has tipex (sp?) on the front! When I've showed to people they laughed because it was so suspicious no idea who to contact to see if it's legit or not though. When I sent it off to change the ownership the society didn't say anything.

ETA my horse is not a gypsy cob either as you can see in my signature.

Yes the society does exist although our Gypsy vanner cob is registered with the International Miniature Horse & Pony Society Ltd who are another PIO who issue passports for Gypsy cobs.

a friend of mine picked a horse up from a dealers yard, it had a GC society passport,it was haflinger, clearly not a cob, the dealer told them horses he gets that doesnt have passport he can get passports done on the boarder of the country with the GC society ..
Couldnt tell you if they ever sent it too the society to have it all changed though ..

Dont know if thats any help to you?
