Today I've had a day off work and after dropping little one off at nursery went straight down to see Baz. Gave him breakfast and poo-picked. Then I took a horrible call to tell me that a very, very good friend had lost her battle with cancer :( (RIP Christina xxxx)

My TB is generally a moody, aloof b*gger but stood there while I had a blub into his mane and I swear he even leaned in to 'hug' me. Then, I decided to chuck the saddle on and head off for a hack. It was a beautiful morning and I just let him make decisions as to which direction we'd take. After a couple of hours we were heading back and found ourselves on the breast of a hill with a beautiful field of barley in front of us, wafting majestically in the breeze. Baz stopped whilst I said my goodbyes to my friend, and gave him a massive cuddle. Back to his field and he literally followed me like a puppy, as if he was making sure I was OK. He hardly ever does this.

I love my horse.

Really sorry about your friend.

Horses definately know when you need some TLC. Glad your boy was there to give you some love and comfort today. He is very beautiful too!

Big hugs xx

Really sorry for your loss, and what a wonderful horse you have!

From personal experience, I definitely believe in the healing powers of horses!

Big hugs.
I really do know how you feel, my grandma died of cancer in march, and my horse was and still is a very comforting thing to know that I could always go and give her a cuddle and have a bit of a cry and she wouldn't mind.

Big big hugs, I really do feel for you :(

So very sorry to hear about your friend. So glad your horse was there for you. They are so perceptive I think. Sometimes I wonder if they can read us better than other humans.

Thanks so much for your thoughts guys. He really did cheer me up today and as I said is normally a pretty grumpy, aloof lad so it somehow meant even more. :)

Really sorry to hear about your friend, the only consolation is that she's no longer suffering.

Horses are so perseptive they pick up on our feelings and moods very easily. Your horse knew you were upset and was there for you when it mattered - same as all best friends. :)

By the way your horse is lovely
