I imagine that everyone is thoroughly sick of these threads but I really need a different perspective on what to 'officially' name my horse.

His passport just has a foal number on it and the time has come to christen him properly. His everyday name is Rufus but I want a posh name on the passport just in case we ever affiliate (v. unlikely :D).

I would like his name to have 'dark' or 'darkness' or something along those lines in it because he is a very glossy dark bay with quite a bit of white on him so his colour is probably his most striking feature. Current ideas are:

After Dark
Dark Before Dawn
Darkness Falls
Dusk til Dawn
Fear of the Dark (Iron Maiden tribute!)

Problem is I've been thinking about this so long that I can no longer tell if I even like the names any more, I can't think of any more and my brain has utterly turned to mush. Do you like any of these? Can anyone think of some more?

'After dark' was my jumping ponies name back in the nineties :D
What about 'darkest before dawn'?

Haha, 'After Dark' just makes me think 'After Eight'! On that theme, how about 'Dark Chocolate'? :D

More seriously:
'Dark of Night'
'Night Vision'
'Shadow Man'
'Dark Shadow'
'Red Sky Night'

Thanks for the replies so far. I really like 'Darkest Before Dawn' and 'Dark of Night'.

The Irish Horse Board needs 4 possibilities so keep them coming :)

On an astronomical theme (my fav non-horsey subject ;) ) how about 'Dark Energy' or 'Dark Matter' or 'Quintessance' or 'Dark Star'?

On a less astro theme, 'Dark Knight'?

Darkness Falls is the name of a scary horror film lol, though i quite like it! After Dark is also good. How about After Midnight...its along the same theme.

Heart of Darkness (like the Conrad novella, innit)
Rufus the Obscure (like Jude the Obscure...but, like, more obscure)
Camera Obscura
Double Negative
L'ombre
