And a connemara

I do like them

And a good coming up from ponies to horses I think.

3rd one: maybe it's just the photos, but again i don't like.

4th one...looks nice but maybe not right if coming off ponies onto horses

i don't really like the 1st one either

love the 2nd one! looks gorgeous and sounds great for moving on to a horse!
The 3rd one sounds good but pics aren't the best.
4th one looks and sounds fantastic but maybe a bit big?

First one just says 'competed in SJ' with no mention of how successfully so you can bet it didn't do well!

Second one is just my cup of tea but showjumping is not mentioned in the advert despite all its other accomplishments. Would want to see it jump round a full course of coloured showjumps with fillers off the home environment.

Third one - why only pics in the field and no ridden pics? How long ago did it do BSJA?

Fourth one - looks and sounds nice but very big!

Thanks everyone.

First one we are just going to see to get an idea of the range. Second one does look lovely - but not done much SJ and is at the very top end of our price range.

Third one not done BSJA for three years. Bought for a non horsey husband a year ago - and he was used to riding gypsy cobs - so found it too much for him.

Fourth one - yes probably too big - but we are going to Yorkshire so thought we would have a look anyway.

1st one does nothing for me

2nd one I love but definately check what it is like with coloured fences. I bought an 8 year old whom was meant to be ready to go PN and all it had done was hunted, took it SJ and it freaked at coloured fences!!

3rd one: not too sure especially as it has not done BSJA for 3 years and by the sounds of things has not done much for a year but is probably worth a look.

4th one: I think would be too big for someone just coming off ponies and not done lots of BSJA. A friend of mine bought a 16.2 when they came off ponies and it was a disaster.

Personally, I like the second and fourth ones, although the fourth is probably too big for a teenager moving onto horses, if you're prepared to travel I'd go and see as many of the ones you think might be a possibility as you can.

None of them do it for me for the kind of money that they want. The 3rd one strikes me as weird they could not even be bothered to catch it to take photos.

[/ QUOTE ] Being cynical I would ask why a competition horse ended up being bought for a beginner rider - if he was successful then the price would be much more expensive than other suitable horses for a non-horsey husband. Could have possibly been sold as a happy hacker due to a soundness problem or suddenly turned sour

. Definitely something to check out, especially as horse doesn't even seem to be in work at the moment. And make sure they have someone available to ride the horse before your daughter gets on.

Im afraid the only one I like is the connie, and I suspect he might struggle in BSJA distances?
I disagree re: 16.2hh . I moved onto a 17hh off 14.2 and had no problems really related to size. I believe your daughter is quite big on a 14.2hh? Is it worth buying something she will not grow out of?

We are looking for a horse 15 - 16 hh - to do BJSA - needs to be able to do Novice. Want a horse that doesn't look at jumps - otherwise happy to bring it on. Up to £6k but would prefer nearer £4k.

I'm always dubious of adverts that state the horse has a recent 5 stage vetting. Why?

Has someone else had it vetted and then changed their mind, or is the seller a dealer, even though it says 'private advertiser'?

I agree - at 15hh the distances might be a problem.
