So my 2yo is growing like a weed at the moment and has developed a locking patella, which im managing with almost 24/7 turnout and walks inhand. I have recently moved him onto a field with fairly long grass, and plenty of it. He is looking well, and not overweight or underweight, just right i'd say but i wouldnt want more on him for fear of damaging his joints. Its such a worry with him growing so quickly.
Usually he's fed D&H suregrow with a handful of mollichaff calmer but a pesky family of mice got into my latest bag and pooed and wee'd all in it so i've chucked it out *rage* and since bought myself brand new feed bins.
However, i was thinking earlier, he has a rockies 5 star lick in the field to cover vits and mins.. and with the amount of grass he's getting should he really need anything else? He still gets a tiny handful of mollichaff calmer just as a token because he kicks off if my 4yo is fed and he isnt, which is fair play.
So, just your thoughts, he is dutch warmblood x thoroughbred and standing at 15.2. He's currently bum high too. He'll be ok on just good grass and a mineral lick right?!

I'm not feeding my babies at the moment as they have lots of nice grass and I brick mineral block in a bucket. I think that's fine at this time of year

He's smaller than my 2yr old, who's pushing 16hh

I'm keeping Roo deliberately lean. He's on reasonable to poor grass (with two other good doers), and just enough sugerbeet to keep him a constant weight (now being reduced since the grass is growing). He gets a general powdered supplement to make sure he gets everything. I have deliberatly NOT put him on anything like Suregrow as I don't want to encourage any extra growth of any description! I also have a mineral lick but he's not that interested in it.

Mine love the blocks, they have them in their stables as well. One day I honestly thought that one of them had a serious head injury as it looked like dried blood all the way down her face but it was the mineral lick!!!
