I'm sitting here with my ankle the colour of beetroot and the size of a melon, but all in all I got of lightly so I just thought I would share in the hope of helping any of my H&H friends. It was my mistake I bottled up my hot mare too much then threw the reins away a bit and she just lost her head and bucked me all the way up a steep hill at a pretty smart canter. After about 4 bucks I found myself wrapped round her neck awaiting a practical reminder of the inevitable forces of gravity. So had a little time to think - it was too steep to attempt a one rein stop or circle ( OK I admit it - I didn't really think of that till later) But I did have time to think "tuck and roll" Off I went, rolled down and over and quickly got to my feet, to see her standing stock still with her beady eye on me as if to say "what are you doing down there when we were meant to be having fun together" So here I am nursing a sprained ankle not a broken neck - so remember to tuck and roll if you can it makes a huge difference. Everyone should take some time to learn how to fall :) its as inevitable as death and taxes.

Ouch! Hope the ankle gets better quickly.
That's made me think... I used to fall off all the time as a child, but I have never learned to fall properly.where does one learn? None of the riding schools I have used taught this.
