I posted this in CR last weekend but im still on such a high that I thought bonkers black pony deserved another thread about the same thing. I can't believe from a little pony who freaked every time I got on him and who I spent the first two years wondering what on earth I had got into and how I was ever going to cope with him, to a delightful, fun little chap who is a joy to ride. He has always put a smile on my face, but none so big as last weekend when we did our first session schooling over proper sized cross country jumps. I am a total, self confessed wuss when it comes to jumping, so to be popping these on a pony I backed myself makes me really proud of myself, but even more proud of him. He made them all feel so easy!
All CC on my riding welcome as I am not a jumping jockey, im a happy hacker at heart!
If you saw these in CR then feel free to ignore!
Some zooming to warm up:

This is my sort of jump, feeling nice and confident:

Then cantered boldly around to one I thought was a little more challenging, lined up, thought 'holy moley thats bigger than I thought!', took my leg off and pony quite rightly said 'crikey, if you aren't sure then I'm not either!'

Lesson learned, more leg!

Inspecting the next one...looks pretty big!

No problem mum...this is easy!

No stopping us now...bring on the skinnies!

Thinks he is something special now, getting carried away (I know it looks like I am trying to bring rollkur into eventing, I promise he is mid head toss and my hands have come in to take up the slack!)

Time to chill afterwards...happiness is a roll in the sand!

Thanks for looking!

The last pic is my fav! I know what you mean aboutnyou clocking the fence so the horse does too. But sounds like a very good day out.

It was brilliant, I'm still beaming ear to ear. To me anything over 2ft is monsterously big...that table looked much smaller from far away! Good thing my ponys little legs have more ping than mine!

Thanks guys, he is 14.1 if he stands up really really tall and doesn't trim his toes. He is 3/4 andalusian and 1/4 Welsh section b, so an unusual cross. He was bred by someone aiming to breed small dressage horses, but at 3 he looked like a big foal, so no-one wanted him. He's just done a 20km Trec ride today so well see if he's still bouncing for the obstacle phase tomorrow!

ADORABLE! Stunning :D

What a gorgeous horse! I had a slight flash back of an old boy I used to ride called Archie (r.i.p). Those are some impressive jumps :D well done!!

'incredible bouncing bonkers black pony'....sounds like my old girl...and her equally 'incredible bouncing bonkers' brown daughter:D...

lovely pics, lovely horse

CC...looking at the first pic you might want to try shortening stirrups=easier to balance in light seat :)

Yeah, I definitely need to hoik them up more. They felt mega short compared to normal! He's such a dude though, it should be me giving him confidence but he's being such a star I jumped things I would've been terrified of a year ago. Still taking it very gradually though as I don't want to knock either of our confidence.

Sorry, he's all mine, going nowhere, whether he likes it or not! Was thinking at Trec today how wonderful it is to ride along one handed in canter whilst reading my map without any pulling or taking off, he's so polite and enjoyable to ride when he isn't being loopy!
