Are currently "sleeping" in the barn (with permission of their parents)

Does anyone else think this is ever such a crazy idea for a Saturday night? Since when was kipping in barns a favourable activity for teenagers>!

Hmmm, how old are these teens? Yes bit odd, none of them smoke do they? don't want the barn going up in flames.

God I would have loved that. Actually, I still would :o
I know many a former jockey who has kipped in a hayshed under a (horse) rug!

Careful the Elf and Safety Brigade don't start wagging their fingers.

(Gawd, I never, ever thought I would say that...)

Depends on the kids I guess. My daughter slept in a barn overnight one weekend with a group of mates when she was about 18 or so. Her brother was there too. Can't remember the occasion but it is still looked back on as a 'wicked night' some 7 years later :p :D

I bet they are going to have a party :D

Sounds like an adventure to me. We go camping so I suppose its just a variation on that.....then again I've not seen mice or rats at any of the places I've camped....hmmm doesn't sound so good now

I'd prefer my teenagers to spend a night in the barn rather than go 'out on the town' on a Saturday night. The kids at my yard are more interested in horses than anything else, doubt they would have the money or inclination for smoking.

Sounds like fun, I would have loved to do that when I was young - perhaps us oldies could have a night in the barn when they've finished.

Trust me that is a sensible place to sleep on a saturday night:D
Voice of experience,lol...as long as they sensible and dont smoke on the yard i hope they have fun, used to love kipping out in weird places with my mates:)

Id love to do something like this haha .. it would be so good but would freeze lol.
Ages ago some friends and me was going to put a tent up in the horses field and camp there but never got round to doing it haha. xx

I must be a real party pooper because Im afraid I would be furious if my horses were in and kids were sleeping in the barn disturbing them all night! Our horse's are creatures of habit and they will be upset if there are unfamiliar noises going on all night, when are they supposed to rest? I feel it is very selfish of the parents to allow them to sleep there, it might be different if they were on their own land with no other horse owners to think about.

They are under strict instructions...they don't smoke (oooh I would know, i hid it enough when I was that age) and their parents all live within a 1/2 mile radius of the yard, and they have a house key and a 5 minute walk to safety, as well as my neighbours over looking the yard and keeping an eye!! They are under instruction that the only way they are allowed to stay is if they muck out all the horses in the morning :) which means my liveries will have a nice Sunday!!!

It is not a 'big' yard, and I have got notes from their parents saying they are responsible for them at all times...so the crazy kids are in my barn sleeping on the big bales and I am happy in the knowledge that it is the responsibility of their parents if they fall off of them :)

When I was younger we used to camp and sleep in the horse box, but only in the height of summer, and I have only slept at the yard once since I have been an adult - and I had to be drunk to do it :) !!!!

I cant say I would like sleeping in my barn though, its a beautiful 17th Century barn, and I have just told the kids it is haunted...twinned with the bridle path at the top of the track being called 'dead woman's lane" I am surprised they are still there but ho hum :) MAD CRAZY CHILDREN :)

Still, so long as they are not on street corners getting ASBO's I am happy :)

And BREATHE...they are no where near the horses...the horses live in the stables not the barn

They are very good kids, when I got the yard I declared it a child free zone but these 3 are lovely, no silliness, get on and ride their ponies, and love it :) it is really good to see. They are also handy for chucking up the muck heap and raking the yard which is good!!!!

We do that all the time at our yard :) and we vary from 7 - 40+ hahaa! The adults like to see themselves as big kids, who are actually more childish than us half the time :P
I mean, our yard owner got out the horses jumps and started jumping them, full of drink, baring in mind shes like 44?
Good times :)
But yes, its a good idea ;)

brings back memories, we used to do this, especially on bonfire night to make sure the horses were ok. well that was our excuse lol.
we did it at another place too where the manwho owned it was german. We slept in this wee shed sort of thing and he would come along at 11pm and bang on the door and tell us he was turning the generator off, used to scare us half to death lol.
Oh happy days, hope they have fun.

I used to have slumber parties in my hay loft in my barn! Loved it! And going to county fair shows we'd sometimes have to sleep in the stables - it'd be kids from 4H all ganging together - never actually slept I don't think - just up chit chattin the whole night. Ahhh...memories :D
