Ok I'll start from scratch.........

Twig my 16.1 6yo tb appeared lame in the school a week ago. Its very very mild as I couldnt even feel anything and had to get off and put her on the lunge to see. As I say....even then very very slight lameness in near fore. Cant see it trotting her up in a straight line. At first we thought she had tweaked a shoulder hoolying in the field as that side was not looking as free as the other.

Had the farrier out monday to have a look. He found the tiniest tiniest bit of pus but didnt think it anything significant, put wadding in then the shoe back on and said to call him if no improvement.

There has been no improvement during the week (not getting worse either) so hes been out today to look again. Absolutely nothing with hoof testers and no pus watsoever. Just in case shes bruised something hes packed te foot with some gel stuff (sorry cant remember name!) and put a leather pad over top. If shes no better by tuesday its off to the vets for us.

So, any ideas anyone? I'm getting all sorts of horrible ideas in my head about navicular or damaged ligaments

shes out at the moment as I tought standing in wont help as se does get quite stressy and weaves so think shes best mooching around in the paddock really. I'm gutted

I think deep down you know the answer, knowbody can really tell you what is wrong with your horse, it could be one of a million things. All I will say is please dnt panick and fear the worse. My horse came in about 6-7 weeks ago and could hardly put his foot to the ground, he had no sign of anything wrong in particular and scans and x rays showed nothing. However the vet still would not rule out that he didnt have a stress fracture, the lameness was one problem but the worrying thing was the oddness of the gait. Now this far along, I have been sitting on my horse for 2 weeks and he is great at the moment, I must be honest and say I did think it may have been the end of him. So the bottom line is, try not to think the worse, we all think its the end of our world when are horses arent right and to many of us it is but please be possitve and think, in a few weeks time things will probably be ok. Best of luck xxx
