Just wondered if anyone went on saturday to Melton Mowbry Horse Sales. Seems they arent going to hold them anymore there. Ive been going every month with a friend and mostly enjoy the experience. Undoubtbly you see some horses and feel sorry for them, but you also get to meet some nice people. Has anyone brought from there before, ive brought a welsh sec c colt foal and my friend brought an infoal thoroughbred mare with foal at foot. I wonder where the regular sellers will now take their stock to be sold and where the dreaded meat man will buy his from :-( ?

ask Spotsrock for the details but there was a very interesting conversation at a tack sale in Harlaxton yesterday and it seems the sales may not be allowed to close.... the lady who owns the lease was not aware of the pending closure and is on the case!
If anyone wants to come to the tack sale at Dairy Farm, Harlaxton (/Denton) (near Grantham) on Thursday Evening at 6pm there may be more details then!

No-one owns a lease, the sales are run entirely by the partners of Melton Mowbray Market. It has been their decision, based on a number of factors, to stop the horse sales. Derby or York will be the nearest sales.

I posted about this a few weeks ago,and a friend who has a stall there had heard the same thing.

I went on Saturday and bought a trailer,I'm very pleased with it and it was a real bargain.I'll miss the sales,we always buy carrots, whips, leadreins ect from there.
