Pointless post really just wanting to get it off my chest and have a secret moan.
We have had no turnout now for 6 long days, the fields are wet, the school is not really useable as it is so slippey and I have waited just over 3 weeks for my saddle fitter to sort out my saddle, so saying that my youngster was fresh is an understatement.
I had him on the horsewalker albeit in walk for an hour, led him in hand about 1 mile away to another school thought he would be ok, I tried another saddle as she confirmed that my new saddle from September was too narrow, she couldn't believe its the same horse, just walked and trotted and thought the little man feels tense, we trotted down the longside and with his ears pricked and little squeals he bronced for england, little old me had a quick but rather dignified exit out of the side door
, cue young horse going mental in the school.
Put him on the lunge and thought right go and let off some steam, pushed him on when he wanted to stop, it was my turn to call the shots
, rode for about 45 mins in the saddle and it felt lovely and he was still fresh but behaving.
The saddle fitter thought that the saddle could just be a tad wider although it was minimal but she felt that was the right way to go, so its being adjusted and she is to come again on Thursday to refit. I walked him back to my yard and he was still full of it, we have now had even more rain with more forecast so no turnout till next week, its not good, have to make the decision about yards pretty PDQ.
So I'm nursing a still abck and a bruised knee, thank goodness my instructer has a surface that is like cotton wool.
Thanks for reading a pointless post, do I feel better - Nah !
