The Magpie Rhyme.....

I'd love to know the whole rhyme....I know some, but not all - anyone help??

one for sorrow
two for joy
three for a girl
four for a boy
five for silver
six for gold
seven for a secret ne'er to be told

thats as far as I know...does it go on?

There are loads of different versions of this rhyme.....the one you are quoting is the one they used to use on 'Magpie', which was a kids' TVprogramme in the 70s.

the last bit is:

Eight for a wish
Nine for a kiss
Ten for a bird you must not miss

I always say to a single magpie:
'Hello Mr. Magpie How is the Misses.'
Then I thought oh no what if its a women and really offended and casts bad thoughts on me!
So now its:
'Hello Mr Magpie how is the missis and Hello Misses Magpie how is the Mr.' That gets you crazy lady looks.
