I have not got any pics as the said horse was rushed straight to horsepital, yesterday it came in with a massive hole at the back of the fetlock, edging on the tendon (unable to put any weight on it at all - understandably). It is now having extensive emergency surgery to attempt to repair the tendon sheath and fetlock joint (as both are ruputured).

Has any1 got any experiences of the recovery of this type of injury and what to expect. I do understand it is exteremely serious and the vet did mention that it may never walk again.

I'm assuming it was on a fore leg and wasa high over-reach?
Sounds horiffic though, I hope the horse makes a swift recovery

Back leg, havent a clue how she did it, didnt look to be from fencing, although 2 other horses camne in with puncture wounds, cuts etc. We dont know if they were fighting or whatever, its got us all stumped.

my horse injured her tendon sheath and ruptured all the nerves too.
it was good in a way as it meant she couldnt feel any of the pain while she was travelling to the college.
in fact she was never lame due to the nerve damage.

she did recover though - she jumped again but not to the height she was jumping at before.
i think i was very lucky as i was also told she may not work again.

vibes to the poor horsey.

I lost one horse to a severed tendon sheath because the hospital couldn't get rid of the infection, but have known 2 horses since then be perfectly fine after very similar injuries, so fingers crossed for you, vets told me 9/10 horses survive.

Isn't it horrible not knowing what caused it

fingers crossed for you x
